Director of Ecommerce

Job Description - Director of Ecommerce

Chocolove is one of the fastest-growing brands in chocolate, and they’re looking for their next Director of E-commerce! In this strategic and hands-on role, you’ll own the roadmap that turns their momentum into online growth across Amazon and DTC channels.

Chocolove

Founded in Boulder, Colorado in 1995, Chocolove makes premium chocolate from classic gourmet bars to filled bars, minis, bites, cups, and gift boxes. Today Chocolove offers more than 50 Non-GMO Project Verified products, sold at retailers like Sprouts, Safeway, Natural Grocers, Albertsons, and Walgreens, as well as on Amazon and chocolove.com.

In 2025, Chocolove joined the family-owned Ritter Sport, and together they are two of the fastest-growing brands in chocolate. That partnership brings real momentum, making it an exciting time to join the team!

What You Will Do

As Director of E-Commerce, you will own Chocolove's online business across DTC and Amazon, setting the digital roadmap and leading its execution. You’ll scale Amazon growth with a sharp eye on profitability, and over time extend your scope to Ritter Sport's Amazon business. This is a hands-on leadership role: you'll lead an internal Amazon Manager and partner closely with Marketing and Creative, while still rolling up your sleeves and executing.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and execute an e-commerce strategy and roadmap that drives online revenue growth across DTC, Amazon, and retailer.com

  • Lead the transition of the DTC site to Shopify and continuously improve the online consumer experience, from navigation and site performance to checkout

  • Own Amazon performance end to end, including Seller Central, Amazon Advertising, and logistics, partnering with operations on inventory and fulfillment

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Creative on digital campaigns, content, and product detail pages that increase traffic, conversion, and retention

  • Own the e-commerce budget and P&L, and deliver monthly reporting on KPIs and business performance to leadership

  • Lead, train, and develop the Amazon Manager, and manage key vendor, agency, and marketplace relationships

Who You Are

You're a strategic thinker with a real passion for e-commerce and CPG, and you're just as comfortable editing a product page or digging into the data as you are building a long-term growth plan. You speak both Amazon and DTC fluently and understand what it takes to build and scale a profitable online CPG business. You're a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You can juggle priorities and re-prioritize as the business evolves.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressive e-commerce and DTC experience (8+ preferred), including managing others

  • CPG experience growing both Amazon and DTC channels; food and beverage experience strongly preferred

  • Hands-on Shopify experience, including the technical back end

  • Deep knowledge of Amazon Seller Central (1P/3P), Amazon Advertising, and Amazon logistics (FBA/FBM)

  • Proficiency in Google Analytics and Google Ads, with a strong grasp of funnel levers like traffic, conversion, and AOV

  • Experience managing budgets and analyzing marketing spend to determine ROI

  • BA/BS in business, marketing, communications, or a related field

  • Based in the Chicago area and able to work onsite 3 days/week, with quarterly travel to Boulder, CO

Nice to Have:

  • Retailer.com experience, such as Walmart.com, Target, Whole Foods, Kroger, or Albertsons

  • Experience with last-mile partners like Instacart or DoorDash

  • Experience scaling a startup or small company

Benefits

  • Salary range of $150,000 to $170,000 plus bonus potential; final compensation will depend on skills and experience

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus short and long term disability insurance, after 60 days of employment

  • Paid time off and paid holidays

  • 401(k) program

  • Hybrid schedule in our downtown Chicago office, steps from the train

We are committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace and encourage all qualified applicants to apply, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status. While our job descriptions outline ideal qualifications, we recognize potential comes in many forms. If you believe in our work and have the foundational skills and experience that would contribute to our company culture and mission, we encourage you to apply.
