Director of Emergency Services

Our client is seeking an experienced Director of Emergency Services to oversee clinical operations, staff development, and departmental performance within a 12‑bed Emergency Department. This leader will ensure high‑quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency while fostering a culture of professional growth and evidence‑based practice.

The ideal candidate brings strong leadership experience in emergency services, a solid understanding of departmental operations, and the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and hospital leadership.

Requirements:

• Perform additional duties within scope of practice as assigned.
• Implement departmental goals, policies, and evidence‑based clinical protocols.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure readiness for regulatory surveys.
• Oversee daily departmental operations, including patient flow, staffing, clinical performance, and service delivery.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, and administrative teams to address clinical issues and support patient‑centered outcomes.
• Lead performance improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with regulatory, clinical, and organizational standards.
• Develop and manage departmental budgets; monitor financial performance and resource utilization.
• Plan and oversee staffing activities, including hiring, onboarding, evaluations, corrective actions, and scheduling.
• Direct staff education, competency development, and continuing education initiatives.
• Promote a positive work environment that supports professional development and team engagement.
• Integrate evidence‑based practices into clinical workflows and operational processes.
• Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Emergency Department, ensuring safe, high‑quality patient care.

Qualifications/Must-Haves:

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
• Master's degree preferred (or equivalent experience)
• 2–3 years of leadership experience in Emergency Services required.
• Experience with departmental operations, including budgeting and staffing.
• Experience in staff development, education, and performance management.
• Strong understanding of emergency care standards, regulatory requirements, and quality initiatives.

Licensure & Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire.
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Kentucky.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 6 months.
