Job Description - Director of Engagement & Partnerships, CEJJF

Classification:   Full-time, Exempt
Reports To:       CEJJF Executive Director

The Clean Energy Jobs and Justice Fund (CEJJF) is Illinois’ nonprofit green bank, dedicated to fostering a sustainable future for all Illinois residents. Our purpose is clear: to make clean energy accessible to everyone while ensuring equitable distribution of its benefits. Incorporated in Illinois as directed by the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act, CEJJF is committed to ensuring that the advantages of the clean energy revolution reach every corner of our state. Our innovative financing programs will prioritize historically underserved communities by offering opportunities and grants to equity-eligible contractors, low-income and environmental justice communities, and the businesses that serve them. Our priorities are grounded in our commitment to equity and correcting systemic barriers in the clean energy economy.
 

Position Overview

The director of engagement and partnerships is responsible for a range of engagement activities in support of the CEJJF’s launch. The director is a senior leader who develops and implements strategies to build and maintain relationships, raise awareness, and engage with a broad set of stakeholders in support of CEJJF’s mission. These stakeholders include community members and community-based organizations, equity eligible energy contractors and developers, the Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition, municipalities, and local decision makers. A significant early objective is the development of a robust network of clean energy and energy efficiency contractors and developers to inform and market CEJJF’s programs and products. Additionally, the director will leverage community networks to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and coordinate community engagement efforts.

This position is remote, based in Illinois.

CEJJF contracts directly with Public Sector Consultants (PSC) for staffing and management services. The director of engagement and partnerships will be an employee of PSC and report to the executive director of CEJJF.
 

Essential Duties

Stakeholder Strategy Development

  • Builds the contractor and developer network strategy, readying partners for the rollout of CEJJF financial products to the market
  • Develops and implements community engagement strategies, plans, and programs to raise awareness of CEJJF and to ensure the development and delivery of programs and products that meet community needs
  • Actively works with stakeholders, partners, and communities to continually uncover and leverage communication and outreach channels

Collaboration and Partnerships

  • Identifies potential partners and collaborators for community initiatives, contractor networking, and special projects
  • Fosters relationships with community leaders, businesses, and nonprofit organizations to enhance program effectiveness
  • Serves as main point of contact for contractors, providing education to the network on CEJJF’s residential and commercial products
  • Collaborates with the executive director, manager of green finance, and PSC staff on marketing, outreach and engagement strategies, and materials to ensure the needs and perspectives of CEJJF’s customer base are considered and to understand the needs of lenders

Project Management

  • Manages and/or supports the development of competitive proposals.
  • Plans, executes, and oversees projects with community engagement components
  • Manages multiple priorities and workflows to ensure project momentum
  • Develops project timelines, budgets, and performance metrics to ensure goals are met
  • Coordinates with internal teams and external partners to facilitate project activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Seven to ten years of experience in program or project management
  • Experience working within the sustainability space, clean energy, or climate change preferred but not required
  • Solid network within Illinois, with demonstrated experience working in the central and southern regions of the state
  • Comfortable working in a start-up environment during a high growth period
  • Experience influencing and collaborating across organizations to drive new program development
 

Work Environment

CEJJF employees work fully remotely. Work is primarily performed indoors, with extended periods at a computer or on the phone. The nature of the work involves multitasking, completing repetitive tasks, and having contact with the public, stakeholders, and clients. This role will involve travel across the state, up to 40 percent of the time.
 

Compensation

  • Salary range of $115,000–$145,000 commensurate with education and experience
