Summary

This management position is responsible for the supervision and implementation of daily engineering and painting operations in a large, older, union property. Responsible for the upkeep, repair, renovation, and maintenance of the property including, but not limited to: electrical, HVAC, plumbing, oil boilers, carpentry, building structure, room fixtures, A/V equipment, appliances, signage, painting, and wallpaper.

Union experience is a must.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to)

1. Assign and supervise the daily tasks of the engineering staff while providing a safe and efficient work environment.


2. Manage all staff scheduling, including call-ins and call-outs.


3. Prepare weekly payroll data.


4. Monitor and report on expenses/supplies to aid in controlling costs while ensuring adequate staff and materials are on hand.


5. Refer and follow up on maintenance issues/problems with Housekeeping, Front Office, and Guest Relations to protect hotel assets, ensure a safe and accident-free environment for guests and employees, and improve guest satisfaction.


6. Supervise daily tasks and schedules of contractors.


7. Create, develop, and maintain relationships, schedules, and billing with outside suppliers and vendors.


8. Train and develop skill sets for staff as appropriate.

Qualifications

Experience in a union hotel required.

Outstanding supervisory/management skills and experience required.

Solid computer skills required.

Thorough knowledge of and certification in oil boilers, electric, and HVAC.
