Job Description - Director of Facilities

The YMCA is
seeking a Director of Facilities to join our dynamic
leadership team. This role is responsible for the overall maintenance,
cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency of our facilities, including
our Community Youth Center and the Healthy Living Center. The ideal candidate
brings a positive attitude, strong
HVAC and building systems experience
, proven staff supervision skills, and the
ability to work collaboratively across departments while maintaining high
standards for safety and member experience.

This is a cabinet -level senior
leadership position that plays a key role in shaping the environment where our
members, staff, and community gather every day.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight of all
    facility operations, maintenance, and environmental services across
    multiple sites.

  • Supervise, coach, and develop facilities and
    environmental staff.

  • Manage HVAC systems, boilers, energy
    management controls, and building automation systems.

  • Coordinate vendor and contractor
    relationships, bids, and project management.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, risk
    management, and regulatory standards.

  • Oversee pools and aquatic systems (AFO/CPO
    certification preferred or ability to obtain).

  • Work closely with staff across departments
    to address facility needs and support programs and events.

  • Respond to member concerns and ensure
    facilities are clean, safe, and welcoming.

  • Support special events, annual campaigns,
    and community engagement efforts as part of the YMCA leadership culture.



Requirements

  • HVAC and
    mechanical systems expertise (certifications preferred).

  • Demonstrated staff supervision and team leadership experience.
  • Strong
    communication skills and the ability to work closely and collaboratively
    with co -workers;
    teamwork is critically important in this role.

  • Flexibility, responsiveness, and a
    solutions -oriented mindset.

  • Experience with electrical, plumbing,
    controls, and general building maintenance.

  • Budgeting and vendor management experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving
    record.

 

Preferred
Background

  • Two years of advanced education in a related
    field and/or 5+
    years of facilities or building operations experience.

  • Experience in large facilities, schools, or
    recreation centers is a plus.

  • Experience
    balancing pool water chemistry and working with pool chemicals is
    preferred but not required.

  • CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to
    obtain within three months).
