Position Overview
Gateway Regional Medical Center is seeking an experienced Director of Facilities Management to provide leadership and oversight of the hospital's Engineering and Biomedical Engineering departments.
The Director is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and controlling facility operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of hospital and clinic facilities. This position oversees maintenance, repairs, engineering services, and construction projects while ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for patients, employees, medical staff, and visitors.
The Director will ensure that facilities operations comply with organizational policies and procedures, applicable State Department of Public Health requirements, regulatory standards, and other applicable local, state, and governmental requirements.
This position also has direct responsibility for the planning, coordination, and oversight of hospital construction projects, from initial planning through completion.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction for the Engineering and Biomedical Engineering departments.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee facility maintenance, repairs, and engineering services.
- Ensure hospital and clinic facilities operate safely, efficiently, and effectively.
- Maintain a safe, clean, comfortable, and functional environment for patients, employees, medical staff, and visitors.
- Ensure facilities operations comply with applicable regulatory, safety, and governmental requirements.
- Develop and maintain preventative maintenance programs for hospital infrastructure and equipment.
- Oversee facility-related inspections, testing, repairs, and corrective actions.
- Coordinate with hospital leadership, clinical departments, vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies as necessary.
- Direct and oversee construction and renovation projects, including project planning, coordination, scheduling, and completion.
- Monitor construction projects to ensure compliance with organizational requirements, applicable codes, safety standards, budgets, and timelines.
- Assist with developing and managing departmental budgets and identifying opportunities for cost-effective operations.
- Establish and maintain departmental policies, procedures, and standards.
- Respond to facility emergencies and coordinate appropriate corrective measures.
- Supervise, evaluate, and develop department staff.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and excellent customer service.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience Qualifications
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a large hospital or healthcare facility.
- Previous experience in facilities management, hospital engineering, or a related healthcare environment.
- Experience overseeing facility operations, maintenance, and construction projects.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of healthcare facility regulations, safety requirements, and applicable building and life-safety standards preferred.
