Director of Finance

Primary Responsibilities

• 
  
  
  
  • LMA: Lead, manage, and bring accountability to our finance and accounting department and oversee our team of accounting professionals
  
  
  • Own the company's financial strategy, forecasting, and long-range planning in partnership with Leadership Team
  
  
  • Serve as strategic advisor to Leadership Team on financial implications of growth decisions (new property acquisitions, market expansion, portfolio changes)
    
    
    
    • Support due diligence and financial modeling
    
    
    
    
  
  
  • Lead annual budgeting process across the organization and individual properties/entities
  
  
  • Perform all general accounting functions and provide financial support and analysis
    
    
    
    • Bank reconciliations, Asset Management Fee collection, Escrow account interest reconciliation, Bookkeeping fees, Gross Potential Rent, Property taxes, Quarterly dividend payouts, 1099s
    
    
    
    
  
  
  • Ensure GAAP compliance with accounting standards and internal procedures
    
  
  
  
  

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Oversee property insurance programs and risk mitigation strategies
  
  
  • Monitor property tax assessments and manage appeals process where relevant
  
  
  • Identify opportunities for process and cost improvements as well as risks and assist with implementation
  
  
  • Support budgeting, reporting, and basic administrative accounting tasks
  
  
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, and/or economics


• CPA, Master's in Accounting, or MBA strongly preferred


• Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, ideally within real estate, property management, or a related asset-heavy industry


• Track record managing multi-entity or multi-property portfolios financially


• Experience with owner/investor reporting


• Proven ability to lead and develop a team


• Experience with financial planning & analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting


• Demonstrates accounting skills and knowledge of accounting principles and best practices


• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and financial and professional integrity
  


• Proven ability to see opportunities, deliver on deadlines, and show decisive problem-solving skills
  


• Excellent organizational and communication abilities
  


• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer skills


• Prior experience with accounting software (i.e. QuickBooks or AppFolio) is a plus, but not required
