Job Description - Director of Finance

Level Five Designs is a multi-family and commercial interior design firm based in Raleigh, NC. Our goal is to bring property branding to life through our design, finishes and furniture selections for developers, multifamily property managers and asset management firms.

The Position
The Director of Finance is responsible for the company’s accounting and human resources management including financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, sales tax reporting, budgeting, payroll and general ledger functions.

Qualifications
·

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
·

Certified Public Accountant certification is preferred but not required.
·

Eight (8) or more years of accounting experience preferred.
·

Proficient in Microsoft Excel
·

Advanced experience in QuickBooks
·

Live within a 50-mile radius of the Raleigh/Durham area.
·

Experience in professional services, construction or commercial real estate industries would be an advantage.
·

Comfortable with hands-on accounting and payroll duties
·

Ability to communicate complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
·

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of the business.
·

Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
·

Confident with the ability to take the lead in challenging situations.
·

Exercise good judgement with respect to keeping confidential information.
·

Able to effectively function as the company’s Human Resources representative.
·

Working knowledge of basic employment laws.
·

Proven experience resolving employee relations situations.
·

Must be collaborative, decisive, and able to influence decision-making.
·

Demonstrate a high sense of urgency, personal energy, and stamina.

Responsibilities
·

Manage the company’s cash flow to ensure that adequate funds are available for the daily business operations while optimizing capital available for investments.
·

Provide timely and accurate financial reports to management including monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and A/R aging reports.
·

Work closely with an external CPA regarding tax matters including tax planning and the filing of annual tax returns.
·

Collaborate with the management team to develop annual budgets. Monitor the company’s actual performance to budgets identifying discrepancies and options for improvement.
·

Hands-on financial responsibility for account reconciliations, accounts payable, receivable, payroll, general ledger, and billing.
·

Work with the executive team to develop and implement strategies to meet the company’s long-term goals.
·

File monthly and quarterly sales tax returns with multiple state revenue agencies.
·

Negotiate rates and coverage with commercial insurance carriers.
·

Participate as an integral member of the leadership team on all matters involving finance and human resources.
·

Assist upper management in the hiring of new employees by conducting reference and background checks and drafting offer letters.
·

Maintain up-to-date personnel information and files.
·

Maintaining the employee handbook.
·

Administer and track employee benefits.
·

Work with insurance and retirement plan providers on plan administration and negotiate competitive rates to ensure that the company is receiving the best value for its investment in benefits programs.
·

Complete and submit paperwork to external agencies for reporting requirements.
·

Other duties as assigned.
·

Occasional travel required.
