Krise Transportation is seeking a Director of Fleet who will play a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of our fleet operations in Pennsylvania. This position can be located anywhere across Pennsylvania. The Director of Fleet will be responsible for managing a diverse fleet of vehicles used for student transportation, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. The Director of Fleet reports to the President. Responsibilities
Specific Duties & Responsibilities include the following:
Fleet Management
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the fleet department, including vehicle maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
Manage a team of maintenance and logistics staff, ensuring they are well-trained and motivated to deliver high-quality service.
Safety and Compliance
Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of student transportation safety.
Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, including vehicle inspections and licensing requirements.
Fleet Optimization
Continuously assess and optimize the fleet’s composition and utilization to maximize efficiency and reduce operational costs.
Monitor vehicle performance and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
Budget Management
Develop and manage the fleet budget, tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Make data-driven recommendations for procurement, disposal, and replacement of vehicles.
Vendor and Supplier Relations
Manage relationships with suppliers, vendors, and service providers to secure competitive pricing and ensure timely maintenance and repairs.
Reporting and Analysis
Generate and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to fleet operations to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Provide regular reports to senior management and collaborate on strategic decision-making.
Environmental Responsibility
Explore and implement eco-friendly and sustainable initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of the fleet.
All other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Requirements
A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
Five or more years’ experience in overseeing fleet maintenance or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge And Skills
Knowledge of tools, procedures, technical skills and safety rules used in the maintenance and repair of gasoline, diesel, and alternative powered equipment.
Technology skills including use of Microsoft Office applications and fleet electronic diagnostic software, tools and equipment. Previous experience using electronic fleet management software systems.
Written and verbal communication skills, and customer service skills are essential. Ability to deal with problems and find solutions.
Must have knowledge of Federal and State regulations, including EPA and OSHA requirements related to the shop and maintenance functions.
Must conduct oneself in a professional manner
Must highly motivated and demonstrate excellent leadership skills
Must make sure staff utilizes all safety equipment
Working Conditions
This position may require travel to other facilities operated by the company including the home office located in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania
