Position Summary
While upholding the mission, vision, and values of Star Valley Health, the Director of Community Relations & Foundation is a strategic leadership role responsible for managing all Star Valley Health Charitable Foundation functions and serving as the hospital’s primary liaison to the community.
The Director oversees fundraising, donor relations, grant development, and endowment management, while also leading key community events, outreach programs, and sponsorships, such as charity golf tournaments, parades, and 5Ks. By building strong relationships with donors, volunteers, and the local community, this role plays a vital part in supporting the growth, sustainability, and mission of the Star Valley Health Foundation.
This position may be structured as full-time or part-time, depending on experience and fit, and is an at-will position.
Job Duties:
Foundation & Donor Management
- Manage all Foundation activities, including fundraising initiatives, donor stewardship, grant tracking,
- and endowment development.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, volunteers, and key stakeholders to ensure ongoing
- support for the hospital.
- Organize and participate in donor receptions, Foundation tours, and recognition events.
- Collaborate with the Foundation Board and committees to support governance, policies, and donor
- engagement.
- Ensure donor intent, transparency, and compliance with regulatory and internal policies.
Community Relations & Regional Engagement
- Serve as the primary point of contact for community relations, representing Star Valley Health in the
- local and regional community.
- Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, civic organizations, regional partners, and
- other stakeholders.
- Plan and execute strategies to enhance the hospital’s reputation, support physician/provider
- recruitment, and strengthen workforce retention.
- Act as spokesperson for the hospital and Foundation at community events, civic meetings, and regional
- initiatives.
- Monitor community trends, emerging issues, and opportunities to inform leadership decision-making.
Event Planning & Community Programs
- Plan, coordinate, and execute key community events, including charity golf tournaments, parades, 5Ks, meet-and-greets for new physicians and staff, and other outreach programs.
- Manage event logistics, including securing venues, coordinating vendors and volunteers, preparing promotional materials, and arranging media coverage.
- Ensure events are safe, well-executed, and aligned with organizational priorities.
- Collaborate with marketing for event promotion, media presence, and messaging while maintaining strategic ownership of community engagement.
Strategic Communications & Advocacy
- Provide strategic guidance for external communications related to community relations and the Foundation.
- Partner with the marketing team to ensure messaging and campaigns support organizational priorities.
- Support leadership with community-facing messaging, talking points, and presentations for key stakeholders.
- Coordinate communications during sensitive issues or crisis situations, collaborating with leadership as needed.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate donor records in the Foundation database (e.g., Kindful), track contributions, and issue timely acknowledgments.
- Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, and logistical support for Foundation Board and steering committee meetings.
- Generate reports on fundraising, grants, and community engagement outcomes for leadership review.
- Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
