The Role
The Director of Gift Planning advances CFMT’s mission by helping individuals, families, and professional advisors turn long-term philanthropic goals into lasting community impact. This role focuses on cultivating relationships, expanding planned and complex giving, and stewarding legacy commitments that support Middle Tennessee’s future.
As a member of the Philanthropic Services team, the Director partners closely with colleagues across the organization to strengthen CFMT’s development priorities and deepen donor engagement.
What You’ll Do
Identify and partner with professional advisors to design and deliver an annual outreach strategy.
Serve as principal liaison cultivating professional advisors who refer clients to CFMT with a goal of increasing their clients’ philanthropic investments.
Lead the creation and launch of a planned giving legacy society to recognize and honor donors and encourage future commitments.
Manage a select portfolio of donors and prospects.
Represent CFMT at professional advisor and prospect events, initiate individual and group meetings, and deliver engaging and insightful educational presentations to enhance understanding of the foundation’s value proposition, stewardship, and services.
Partner with Marketing and Communications to develop strategies and supporting materials to promote planned giving, complex gifts, and relationships with professional advisors.
Collaborate with Finance to accept, manage, and administer complex gifts including real estate, privately held securities, and other assets.
Work with Finance to strengthen relationships with outside investment managers.
Provide oversight to planned giving services by reviewing policies, practices, and procedures to ensure legal compliance and internal efficiencies.
Participate in estate planning and financial advisor organizations to cultivate relationships and increase knowledge base.
Document donor, prospect, and professional advisor activities in the CRM system.
