Director of Health Safety Environmental (Power Generation)

Position Title : DIRECTOR-HSE

Location : HOUSTON, TX

Responsible to : SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS

Position Summary:

As the Director of Health, Safety, and Environment, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies, policies, and programs to ensure the organization's commitment to maintaining a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace. Your role is critical in fostering a safety culture, promoting sustainability, and driving continuous improvement across all operations and processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Health and Safety Management:

Develop and lead the organization's health and safety programs, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Identify and assess potential hazards in the workplace and implement measures to mitigate risks.

Establish safety training programs and ensure all employees receive proper training to perform their duties safely.

Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Environmental Management:

Develop and oversee environmental policies and programs to minimize the organization's environmental impact.

Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and promote sustainable practices throughout the organization.

Monitor environmental performance and report on progress to relevant stakeholders.

Risk Management:

Identify potential risks related to health, safety, environment, and quality, and develop risk mitigation strategies.

Work with cross-functional teams to assess and manage risks associated with new projects, products, or processes.

Compliance and Reporting:

Stay up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to health, safety, environment, and quality.

Prepare and submit reports to regulatory agencies as required, ensuring timely and accurate compliance reporting.

Leadership and Team Management:

Lead a team of health, safety, environment, and quality professionals, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.

Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the HSE team and across the organization.

Other Requirements :

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering) is typically required.

Professional certifications in relevant areas such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Quality Manager (CQM), or Environmental Management System (EMS) are highly desirable.

Proven experience with a minimum of 10+ years in health, safety, environment, and quality management, preferably in a leadership role.

Strong knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and best practices in health, safety, environment, and quality management.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.

Proven track record in driving a safety-first culture and continuous improvement initiatives
