Director of Health Services (Camp Nurse)


The Director of Health Services is responsible for overseeing all medical care for campers and staff throughout the summer season. This position manages the Health Lodge, supervises medical staff, oversees medication systems, and serves as the primary medical contact for parents.

 

Key
Responsibilities:

  • Distribute all scheduled daily and evening medications to campers.
  • Provide clinical care to campers and staff in the Health Lodge.
  • Accurately document all Health Lodge visits and outcomes.
  • Manage all medication systems, records, and compliance with standing orders.
  • Serve as the primary communication link with camper parents regarding health concerns following camp policy regarding notifications.
  • Supervise the Camp Health Coordinator and Health Lodge Assistant.
  • Provide emotional and behavioral support to campers as needed by following behavior management techniques as outlined in the staff manual and during training.
  • Follow all camp policies and procedures to ensure the health and safety of campers.


Requirements

  • Hold a valid Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • Maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Demonstrate strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor with campers and staff.
  • Possess experience in health care or youth services (preferred).
  • Demonstrate a desire to positively impact the life of a child and a willingness to put the needs of campers first.
  • Communicate ideas, thoughts, and instructions effectively and constructively.
  • Work self-sufficiently on tasks and assigned goals with minimal supervision.
  • Work effectively in a team environment, giving and receiving direction from others.
  • Adhere to the camp's code of conduct, rules, and policies.

Benefits

$10,000 for 10 week summer (1 week training and 9 weeks of camp). Additional $100 credit in camp store for snacks and supplies. Housing, meals, and laundry included. Weekend work is required, this position requires availability to work on-site 7 days a week for the contract period. Two 1-hour breaks provided each day, and a scheduled 21-hour break each week.
