Job Description - Director of Information Systems, Plant Operations
Purpose:
The Director of Information Systems, Plant Operations is a member of the IS Leadership Team and the key strategic link to DFC’s manufacturing and distribution operations that require technology enablement. This leader will be responsible for understanding DFC’s manufacturing and distribution strategies and designing a technology roadmap that supports these strategies within the walls of the facilities. This includes endpoint management, operational networks, smart/digital factory enablement, shop floor data analytics, and integration back into other DFC enterprise technology assets. The role will have a team that will scale with the pace of investment in digital transformation at DFC operating facilities. The locational scope will include all manufacturing locations and distribution points in our supply chain network.
Reporting to the Vice President, IS, the Director of IS Operations Technology will partner with our business leaders to drive the transformation of our business processes and build a technical landscape that improves the effectiveness of our manufacturing network.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Operations Leadership team to understand opportunities to continue to improve DFC’s manufacturing and distribution competency.
Lead the effective management of the IT Manufacturing project portfolio.
Assess risk in business areas not adequately supported by technology and develop mitigation plans.
Infuse industry best practices in both process and technology into our thinking.
Develop the technology strategy that matches DFC objectives and growth strategies and transforms manufacturing processes.
Manage budgets including operating costs for services as well as capital investments to upgrade, refresh, and extend our platforms.
Lead Digital Transformation within Manufacturing through the selection of new technologies while leveraging our existing platforms.
Take a forward-looking view and suggest which emerging technology trends would present the best business opportunities (IOT, AI, etc.).
Negotiate with software vendors, managed service providers, and contractors to deliver solutions and support technologies.
Partner during M & A activities to develop and execute strategies for business and system integration.
Ensure 24/7 availability of technology platforms at our manufacturing and distribution facilities.
Participate as a member of the IS Leadership Team, bringing strategic thought leadership to the broader IS team and partnering with internal and external stakeholder
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university in IT, Business or a related discipline.
5+ years of leadership experience and developing and executing strategic plans and/or project portfolios or an equivalent combination of education.
5+ years of operations or distribution experience within a mid-sized organization.
Strong experience managing staffing, identifying resource gaps, and contention issues, including internal employees and vendor resources/consultants.
Experience utilizing enterprise technologies within a Manufacturing environment, (i.e. ERP systems, PLC Systems, Shop Floor Management, Warehouse Management)
Proven track record of developing business partnerships and stakeholder management.
Thrives in a faced-paced environment and is able to make measured, objective, data driven decisions.
Experience in rolling out large-scale, transformational platforms.
Experience working in an agile and nimble team.
Plant Operations and/or distribution experience.
Hands on solutions development and delivery in the operations domain
Stakeholder management
Understanding of analytical concepts and data management
Experience with PLC and Shop Floor Technology
