Job Description: Director of Infusion Services

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Infusion Services ensures quality and safe delivery of home health infusion services; partners with the Nurse Administrator to lead a team of registered nurses; coordinates services which reflect the Agency’s philosophy and standards of care; coordinates hiring, training, and scheduling of nursing team; direct supervision of nursing team and evaluating performance in conjunction with the Nurse Administrator.

The Director of Infusion Services will work closely with the Nurse Administrator to ensure effective operations and expansion of infusion services line.  This position will report to the Nurse Administrator.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintain appropriate staffing levels by employing qualified staff in partnership with Nurse Administrator and Human Resources. Coordinates nursing schedule and on call responsibilities. Respond to urgent or emergent infusion-related needs during scheduled or on call hours.


2. Ensures staff development including orientation, in-service education, and continuing education.


3. Responsible for the quality of patient care and ensuring proper delivery of nursing services, in conjunction with physicians, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals.


4. Ensures compliance to established protocols, policies and procedures that promote optimum health care delivery.


5. Addresses and corrects all patient concerns alongside the Nurse Administrator.


6. Regularly assesses employees on an ongoing basis to ascertain their understanding of policies and procedures. Disciplines employees, as necessary with the partnership of Nurse Administrator and Human Resources.


7. Provide delivery of infusion services as needed, including initiation, monitoring and completion of infusion therapy in accordance with physician orders and agency protocols.


8. Review and verify accuracy of infusion services billing systems and report to Nurse Administrator.


9. Develop and implement audit procedures to ensure adherence to infusion protocols, patient safety standards and patient satisfaction.


10. Serve as primary point of contact for home health infusion services and infusion suite.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Licensed Registered Nurse, BSN or MSN


2. Minimum of two years of supervisory experience, preferably in infusion services.


3. Demonstrated strong nursing management skills including scheduling and staffing.


4. Home Healthcare Assessment and Oasis experience preferred.

Ability to perform the following tasks if necessary:

• Ability to participate in physical activity.


• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.


• Ability to perform extensive bending, lifting, and standing on a regular basis.
