Who We’re Looking For:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Architecture,

Architectural Design, Business

or a related field (required).
Minimum three years of successful leadership experience as a principal, supervisor or related leadership position.
Knowledge of school and school district operations, policies and procedures.
Ability to relate to a wide variety of people and to observe, listen and provide leadership which results in the best possible work environment.
Strategic thinker and self-starter; ability to work independently when needed.
Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues.
Ability to work efficiently and with accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, effectively managing multiple priorities and projects at once.
Excellent computer skills and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint or other related software, which will be necessary in the creation of visually and verbally engaging reports and presentations for cabinet, district leaders, principals and other key stakeholders.
A strong commitment to service and personal accountability.
Excellent organizational, written, communication and problem-solving/creative thinking skills.
Performs other duties/tasks as assigned by the Superintendent/CEO.

Responsibilities & Deliverables

:
The Director of Innovative Environments and School Design will assist in current and long-range learning/work environment planning (including furniture selection) and development efforts, school design, school renovations and facility developments including: master planning, facility analysis, capital override planning, bond project monitoring, community development review and analysis, and planning studies in support of new and updated programs. The Director serves as the liaison to the development and execution of a comprehensive facilities master plan aligned with the strategic plan. This role will have a strong pulse on the community needs, know the research and current educational programming/learning environment trends, and be able to inform the Superintendent/CEO. The Director will oversee strategic initiatives as they relate to future facility planning, school design and creation of new student learning/staff working environments, ensuring that innovative concepts have been utilized in the execution of these strategies.
The role will be responsible for proactively identifying information that has the potential to be impactful and elevate issues along with resolution options to the Superintendent in a timely manner. The Director will also leverage the insights of the Superintendent to quickly adapt and pivot programs and/or strategies to ensure programmatic and operational excellence and overall sustainability. A key component of this is providing independent analysis and judgment in prioritizing situations needing attention, taking steps to ensure projects move forward, and tracking task progress through completion.
Central to the role will be coordinating and executing the following strategies to ensure that the Superintendent can meet or exceed our district’s strategic plan goals while building on our rich traditions and our reputation with existing, past and future stakeholders.
Innovative Environments and School Design execution:
Evaluate the organization's existing strategic initiatives as they relate to school design and the creation of learning and working environments to improve student outcomes.
Identify areas of improvement and potential competitive advantages in the district’s current school design, facility long-term planning and creation of learning/working environments.
Recognize, plan for, and incorporate trends in technology to drive competitive advantage and identify opportunities for school design, facility long-term planning and creation of learning/working environments within the organization.
Examine the essential leadership qualities and organizational considerations required to effectively orchestrate and execute strategic initiatives (e.g. school design, innovation and learning environments), fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
Identify innovative, best-in-class strategies for utilizing data, information, and research to drive school design and creation of the physical learning environments.
Plan, develop and direct the process of establishing a clear strategic direction for school design, school renovations and creation of learning environments within the district, to ensure consistency, coordination and support for the district’s mission, vision and strategic plan goals.
Collaborate with school and district leaders to develop programs that are designed to be data-driven, evidenced based, outcomes-driven and accessible to all learners in order to improve achievement for all students.
Master Facility Planning and Bond Execution
Increase transparency of district bond monies through developing processes and policies for bond projects to ensure trust of taxpayers, community members and staff.
Collect information to assist in identifying new and renovation facility projects.
Provide the organization with master facility planning tasks to match student learning outcomes.
Monitor project and construction budgets as it relates to the Bond expenditures.
Facilitate the process to prioritize master facility plan projects.
Coordinate committee activity as needed to determine facility educational adequacy in support of the strategic plan.
Work directly with the Superintendent/CEO on the oversight of major bond projects and/or school renovations to leverage the effectiveness of resources.
