Job Description - Director of Insurance

Description

TAK Broadband is a leading end-to-end U.S. fiber broadband network construction contractor operating in 42 states. It builds more than just networks; it connects communities to new valuable digital opportunities. TAK offers comprehensive service solutions, from construction to drops to fulfillment. TAK’s ecosystem of partners allows it to successfully complete every project starting from the first point of conception. This includes engineering teams, distributors, and more than 100 qualified construction crews with extensive experience across all ISP types and markets; over 300 experienced bury drop crews; and more than 700 professional technicians.

We are seeking a Director of Insurance to join our team in our Sioux Falls, SD office. The Director of Insurance is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's insurance programs, including pricing strategy, claims management, and overall risk mitigation. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep industry knowledge, strong analytical skills, and a proven ability to lead and motivate a team.

The Role

  • Pricing & Underwriting: Develop and implement competitive pricing strategies, oversee underwriting to align with risk guidelines, and analyze market trends to optimize profitability
  • Claims Management: Ensure efficient claims processing, implement cost-reduction strategies while maintaining customer service, and manage vendor relationships
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial, operational, and reputational risks, monitor program effectiveness, and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Leadership & Budgeting: Foster a collaborative work environment, set performance goals, and manage the insurance program budget, including expected losses
  • Strategic Planning: Align insurance strategies with company objectives, contribute to overall business planning, and stay informed on industry trends
  • Communication & Collaboration: Partner with internal leadership and external stakeholders, including regulators, brokers, and reinsurers, to support company-wide insurance initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in the insurance industry, with a focus on pricing, claims management, and risk management
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field; MBA or other advanced degree preferred
  • Proven track record of success in leading and managing insurance teams
  • Deep understanding of insurance principles, practices, and regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to think strategically and develop innovative solutions 
  • Experience with all lines for Property and Casualty insurance preferred
  • Relevant professional designations a plus
  • Must provide a valid government-issued photo ID for verification; a driver’s license is required if the role involves driving
  • Passing of all pre-employment requirements (MVR, Background Check, Drug Screen)
