Job Description - Director of Marketing

General Position Summary
This position is responsible for driving the strategy and execution for marketing initiatives on a domestic scale,
identifying short-term growth opportunities, and laying the groundwork for long-term strategic opportunities. Job duties
also include enhancing XSEED/Marvelous USA’s reputation, brands, products, and businesses in North America
through public relations and marketing responsibilities as well as initiatives.

Essential Job Functions
Marketing & PR

Serve as the lead in developing strategy, planning, managing, and implementing XSEED/Marvelous USA’s
business communications.

Plan and execute press events (e.g. trade shows, conferences, community gatherings, etc.) that are
engaging and inclusive by ensuring that the venue, spokespeople, assets, messages, and catering are spot-
on.

Maintain and develop productive relationships with media working with a PR agency to help relay product
targeted-messages.



Help to prep spokespeople for media and other public-facing opportunities; anticipate questions, issues, and
any other obstacles.



Responsible for all North American marketing strategies and programs while proposing new initiatives that
target the consumer audience in the region.



Responsible for the budget of all marketing-related efforts not including business development for all
products.



Develop long-term roadmaps for trade shows and events, gathering input from all teams to gauge the health
and success of brand and marketing campaigns.



Ensure media insights are provided through qualitative and quantitative research, media audits, and
comprehensive coverage reports.



Identify and propose key strategic alliances with external brands, media, and commercial partners.



Partner with upper management in forecasting and planning.



Perform day-to-day research on existing North American players’ feedback on live and launch products’
initiatives, news stories, press releases, and updates.



Creation of go-to-market strategy plans for all products.



Own the external and internal PR strategy, including managing agency relationships that guarantee laser-
focused PR strategy, outlook, and execution.



Work together with various internal and external teams to develop key messaging for any product-related
press releases, updates, and games.



Set the strategy for selecting which product-driven stories to share with the press, and which press outlets to
share them with, while keeping in mind how to exactly convey the message.



Become a brand expert on XSEED/Marvelous and Marvelous’ published products – understand how to best
tell their stories both as separately and as intertwined.



Provide feedback on Marvelous Japan-related proposals for the North American market for any product (e.g.
press release timing and style, collaboration announcements, etc.).



Organize PR projects, tasks, and schedules and generally pitch as needed.



Evaluate and advocate new programs and campaigns that elevate and reinforce XSEED/Marvelous’
positioning (e.g. Anime Expo trade show appearance, new official trailer, website design, celebrity
endorsements, etc.)



Partner with product management and community members to create and execute marketing strategies and
campaigns, co-promotions, research studies, and marketing assets.



Lead and assist with advertisement-related initiatives such as television commercials, Internet-driven ads,
and traditional print ads.



Coordinate efforts with our European sister company Marvelous Europe.



Coordinate and share information with sales.



Manage and oversee SNS activities for company and smaller titles.



Work with ESRB for marketing asset approvals.



Stay up to date with ESA initiatives.



Supervisory Responsibility


Manage employees working in the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of
employees within the department.



Check and approve time cards/time off of employees working in the department.
Other & Miscellaneous



Seek to optimize and simplify workflow with a focus on continual improvement.



Perform special projects and other miscellaneous duties as assigned by upper 


management.



Maintain high ethical standards in the work place.



Report all irregular issues and problems to upper management for solution.



Maintain good communication with management, office staff members and outside contacts.



Comply with all company policies and procedures.



Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working area.

Qualifications
(Experience/Minimum Qualifications Needed)



Reasoning Abilities
Ability to apply common understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to analyze information and solve problems on a complex level in various situations.



Education
Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) and 10+ years related experience and training in Marketing/PR; or equivalent
combination of education and experience.
