Job Description - Director of Marketing & Advocacy

Role: Director, Marketing and Advocacy
Location: Berea, OH

Essential Functions:

Demonstrate the values and guiding principles of OhioGuidestone every day, performing with the highest standards of excellence, integrity and ethics.
Develop and execute comprehensive strategies to drive client and community engagement and elevate public awareness of OhioGuidestone’s mission and diverse program portfolio.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with key elected and appointed officials, community leaders, partner organizations and internal and external subject matter experts to effectively advocate for change.
Expand and develop relationships with key media outlets, journalists and industry influencers to secure positive coverage and opportunities to strengthen our brand.
Develop and execute a comprehensive and proactive organization-wide communications, marketing, and branding plan consistent with the strategic goals, initiatives, and aspirations of OhioGuidestone.
Provide leadership and vision for the organization’s strategic and integrated marketing and communications functions including advertising, public relations/media relations, website, graphic design/ creative services, messaging, video, social media and internal brand communications.
Collaborate with the leadership team to identify issues of public policy and organizational importance and coordinate advocacy efforts that maximize impact.
Design, plan for, and oversee implementation of creative communications content and key deliverables, including reports, advertisements, success stories, newsletters, press releases, press kit documents, flyers and fact sheets, presentations, blog posts and others as needed.
Prepare and edit position papers, policy and advocacy materials, including action alerts, talking points, issue briefs, letters, press statements, opinion editorials, website updates, and legislative and public policy reports.
Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of marketing and advocacy efforts, measuring outcomes and impact against established goals.
Identify opportunities for OhioGuidestone leadership and employees to lead thought leadership and share expertise on public platforms to grow brand awareness and meet organization’s advocacy goals.
Develop and manage budgets, ensuring cost—effective strategies that deliver measurable results.
Collaborate with Human Resources to develop, implement, and maintain effective strategies for the recruitment and retention of a culturally diverse team; lead team members using a performance support process that includes goal setting, routine feedback, and ongoing development.
Exhibit positivity, flexibility and a willingness to take on new responsibilities as requested or required.
Demonstrate positive leadership, promote an inclusive work environment and present the Agency in the most positive light with all internal and external contacts.
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
5+ years of leadership experience in communications, advocacy, community engagement, or related roles, preferably within the healthcare or not-for-profit industry.
Demonstrated experience developing and executing media relations and public relations strategies at a high level; strong preference for a professional who brings broader communications capabilities as well, such as marketing communications, branding, website development, internal communications, crisis communications, content development and more.
Qualifications: Mission driven; strong desire to make an impact.
Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team of professionals.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to create compelling messages for various audiences.
Proficiency in digital communication platforms, including social media management tools, content management systems and analytics software.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement effective advocacy campaigns that drive change.
Ability to customarily and regularly exercise discretion and good professional judgment.
Strong organizational skills; able to handle multiple priorities and perform work independently.
Effective computer literacy skills, including Windows applications, Microsoft Office Suite, and electronic health records, etc.
Possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License with a safe driving record and valid insurance.
Successfully meet pre-employment drug screen, and pre-employment background requirements.
