Description

Position Summary:

The Director of Marketing & Business Development is responsible for driving the growth and development of ProCare Hospice's adult and pediatric hospice and ProCare Continuum palliative care service lines. This includes creating and implementing a comprehensive business development strategy to increase patient admissions, strengthen community and professional referral relationships, and establish ProCare Hospice as a leader in hospice and palliative care services. The Director will collaborate with leadership to develop strategic growth plans, ensuring alignment with ProCare’s mission, vision, and values while fostering a compassionate and credible image in the community.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Fosters and maintains an effective working relationship between peers, professional staff, and other personnel within the community
  2. Has a solid understanding of basic hospice regulations, levels of care and admission criteria
  3. Remains up to date on both Federal and State regulations as they change and promptly educates referral sources to changes in the regulations when necessary
  4. Leads, manages, and supervises the marketing team 
  5. Strategic Growth: Collaborates with leadership to develop and execute growth strategies, including defining target goals and milestones
  6. Referral Network Expansion: Builds and maintains relationships with hospitals, physician offices, SNFs, assisted living facilities, group homes, and other referral sources to increase qualified referrals
  7. Performance Metrics: Meets or exceeds the minimum monthly goals as established from time to time, and tracks and reports progress on these goals during weekly and monthly leadership meetings
  8. Marketing and Outreach: Leads efforts to increase community awareness of ProCare's services by coordinating educational initiatives, events, and campaigns  
  9. Collaboration: Works closely with leadership and Board to develop growth strategies and evaluate outcomes
  10. Educational Advocacy: Organizes and delivers presentations to educate referral sources and the community about Company services, addressing common misconceptions and highlighting Company’s unique value
  11. Mentorship: Mentors team members to strengthen referral partnerships and ensure a high standard of professionalism and compassion
  12. Uses the CRM software and community resources to research and identify referral sources and marketing opportunities in the community
  13. Has the ability to create new relationships by constantly seeking out new referral relationships and opportunities in the communities served
  14. Maintains an accurate book of business within the company CRM database including updates on daily, weekly, and monthly visits as well as ensuring accurate referral source information within the database
  15. Ensures that all marketing materials are current and up to date with ProCare policy and current regulations-notifies management if any marketing material is out-of-date or incorrect
  16. Plans for, and achieves monthly goals for referral contacts and admissions 
  17. Is proactive, organized, timely and appropriately persistent in pursuing leads and follow-up 
  18. Gathers data on patient referrals to assist with the admission process when requested
  19. Demonstrates ability to problem-solve and make decisions by assessing situations and considering alternatives, seeking guidance and direction as necessary, utilizing proper chain of command
  20. Demonstrates effective time management skills by coordinating activities to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency, willingness to adjust or revise work schedules as requested

  22. Stays current with all mandatory agency and regulatory requirements
  23. Ability to make “cold calls” by telephone and in person
  24. Completes assigned projects within specified time frames
  25. Has excellent listening skills and ability to understand and empathize with patients, their families, and the professional referral community
  26. Works with the Admissions team to ensure that patient admissions are completed in a timely and accurate manner. (This could include attending the admission, obtaining consents, obtaining attending physician certification of terminal illness and other admission duties to be assigned, when necessary)
  27. Coordinates effective community education programs to increase community awareness on the hospice benefit and to help generate qualified referrals
  28. Directs and/or assists with the coordination of community awareness events including health fairs, health care mixers, and ProCare sponsored community events
  29. Maintains a positive attitude, energy, enthusiasm, initiative, fortitude, perseverance and follow-through with leads and referral sources within the community and always projects a positive, compassionate image as a representative of ProCare Hospice of Nevada
  30. Other duties as assigned

Additional Functions:

  1. Adheres to patient rights, abuse reporting, and confidentiality policies
  2. Attends scheduled staff meetings and in-service training
  3. Adheres to the departmental dress code requirements related to personal grooming and attire
  4. Participates in Performance Improvement activities as requested
  5. Demonstrates reliability by making every attempt to report to work on time, providing proper notification for absence or tardiness and follows policies related to time off requests
  6. Assumes responsibility for on-going personal development and continuing education
  7. In the case that a company credit card is issued, this position is required to maintain accurate spending logs, tracking receipts and reasons for purchases. (Expenses must be entered into the system as required by accounting)
  8. Is able to work within the specified marketing budget, seeking approval for any requests to go over allotted budget amount
  9. Able to manage confidential information
  10. Assumes responsibility for on-going personal development and continuing education 
  11. Completes assigned projects within specified time frames
  12. Seeks guidance from higher authority as needed

Physicality and Work Environment:

  1. May be required to lift up to 20 lbs. on occasion
  2. This position is Category 2 for potential exposure to blood/body fluids. (Does not usually require the performance of procedures or other tasks in the work routine that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, but Category 2 tasks may require the unexpected performance of these procedures).
  3. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, work- related stresses, and driving hazards
  4. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal
  5. Must have the strength and endurance required for standing and walking for lengthy periods of time
  6. Must be able to utilize appropriate basic office equipment
  7. Requires repetitive movement, sitting, writing letters and memos, face-to-face discussions with individuals, teams, or external providers, use of electronic mail, telephone conversations, contact with others (face-to-face, by telephone, or otherwise)
  8. Requires repeating the same physical activities or mental activities repeatedly; requires being exact or highly accurate, requires meeting strict deadlines
  9. Must use appropriate body mechanics as necessary
  10. Must use appropriate PPE as needed
  11. Must follow the designated plan of action in the event of a fire or other emergency
  12. Must be able to travel throughout territory to homes of prospects and professional businesses, drive to meetings with clients or health care professionals as well as patients’ homes

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Must be a sales professional, where relationship-building skills (listening, understanding, helping to identify appropriate solutions, and closing) have been proven
  2. One year of experience is preferred in hospice or health services, to assure understanding of hospice care and the overall continuum of care for hospice patients
  3. Must possess ability to communicate verbally and physically to potential residents and referral sources. 
  4. Must be flexible in meeting evening and weekend requirements
  5. Successful completion of a background check pursuant to NRS 449.188 and NRS 179A.100 along with a pre-employment drug screen and physical, TB testing, previous employment and reference checking, and an MVR (may include verification of education) 
  6. Read, speak, write, and understand the English language
  7. Must be able to handle frequent interruptions
  8. Must be able to cope with emotionally charged situations encompassing patients, families, and other caregivers
  9. Must be able to work independently, effectively managing time for maximum results
  10. Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and current auto insurance
