Job Description - Director of Medical Systems and Compliance


SUMMARY OF POSITION:

  

  • The Director of Medical Systems and Compliance reports to the Chief Program Officer and oversees all agency health related systems and compliance in conjunction with the Director of Nursing, the Director of Quality Assurance, and the Senior Directors of Day and Residential Services. Directs and coordinates the planning and development of all agency medical trainings with respect to program medical practices. The Director will be responsible for routinely auditing all agency medical systems for efficacy and compliance with regulatory standards. The Director will also work with operational leaders to create initiatives to ensure regulatory compliance in all service models, using collected data to inform operational goals in each service model. The Director will also be responsible to maintain administrative regulatory systems. This is a salaried, exempt position.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  

  • Evaluate all agency medical practices and systems and institute changes in conjunction with operational leaders
  •  Conduct routine medical chart audits in all service models, evaluating for quality and compliance of medical supports. 
  •  Provide specific feedback to program leaders to correct deficiencies
  •  Develop methods to ensure that deficiencies have been corrected
  •  Provide data and metrics for quality assurance and best practices
  •  Identify agency performance trends and work collaboratively with senior leaders to develop initiatives to improve service quality
  •  Observes patient’s rights on confidentiality issues, maintains patient confidentiality at all times, and follows HIPAA guidelines and regulations 
  •  Development of curriculum for medical trainings specific to all agency service models that occur during orientation training and in programs
  •  Work with Leadership and Development staff to expand the library of video-based medical trainings that staff can access through the HRIS
  •  Evaluate yearly nursing-based training modules and competency testing for adherence to regulation and current nursing best practices
  • Work in conjunction with the Director of Nursing to develop and maintain a nursing manual of operations containing applicable protocols, policies, procedures and information for individual’s care and consulting activities and on-site nursing services.
  •  Participate in the review of medical issues and findings through the Interdisciplinary Team and make recommendations in line with agency systems practice
  • In conjunction with senior leaders, build and maintain a training tracking system for all required medical training for all programs.
  • Maintain all agency licensing requirements such as MAP site certificates, CLIA waivers, etc.

MARGINAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend a ‘Train the Trainer’ to become a MAP instructor and attend the biannual meetings to maintain your instructor status.
  • Develop clinical grant proposals.
  • Attendance at administrative and other meetings as required.
  • Observe all Agency policies and procedures
  • Maintain CPR, AED and MAP Instructor certifications 

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  

  •  Ability to establish rapport with the disabled population, their families, co-workers and service providers.
  •  Ability to provide training in medically related topics.
  •  Organized, dependable and even temperament; good phone manner.
  •  Proficient in Microsoft Office and a working knowledge of office equipment.
  •  Effective verbal and written communication skills 
  •  Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work with a wide range of employees.
  •  Must be able to bend, lift, stoop, reach and file.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts by the Board of Registration.
  • Two years’ experience as a Registered Nurse and experience with impaired adults.
  • Must be 21+ years old, have a valid driver’s license, and be available by telephone for daily contact.
