Job Summary:
The Director of Mitigation is responsible for leading, managing, and optimizing all mitigation operations related to fire, smoke, and water damage restoration. This leadership role ensures that mitigation projects are executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards. The Director will oversee teams of technicians, coordinate with internal departments and external clients, and report directly to the General Manager to ensure alignment with strategic business goals.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of fire and water damage mitigation projects from initial response through completion.
- Develop, implement, and enforce standard operating procedures and safety protocols.
- Supervise and manage mitigation teams, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and professional development.
- Collaborate with the General Manager to set departmental goals, KPIs, budgets, and staffing needs.
- Ensure compliance with IICRC standards, OSHA regulations, and local codes.
- Evaluate job site conditions and determine the most effective mitigation strategies.
- Provide expert consultation during damage assessments and develop accurate scopes of work.
- Monitor project timelines, labor costs, and equipment usage to ensure profitability and client satisfaction.
- Serve as a liaison between the company, clients, insurance adjusters, and third-party administrators.
- Maintain equipment inventory and ensure timely maintenance and calibration.
- Respond to emergency mitigation situations as needed, including after-hours events.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in mitigation or restoration services, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- IICRC certifications in Water Damage Restoration (WRT), Fire and Smoke Restoration (FSRT), and Applied Structural Drying (ASD) preferred.
- Proven experience managing teams and large-scale mitigation projects.
- Strong understanding of restoration software (e.g., Xactimate, MICA, DASH) and job costing.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm and organized in high-pressure situations.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Willingness to be on-call during emergencies and travel to job sites as necessary.
- Work conditions:
- This position requires frequent visits to damaged properties, sometimes in hazardous environments.
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required during emergency responses.
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and wear PPE as needed.
