Job Description - Director of National Retail Compliance

This role supports the Legal, Compliance, and Government Affairs teams by assisting with onsite operational compliance across all retail dispensary facilities. Qualified individuals will demonstrate several years experience as a regulatory compliance leader in a highly-regulated industry, with specific experience in cannabis retail operations
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**
* Creates and implements standard operating procedures, internal processes, and compliance training for retail dispensaries.
* Partners with retail operational leads at dispensary facilities across the nation to ensure compliant procedures are followed.
* Ensures appropriate tracking and tracing of inventory and waste through various seed-to-sale software programs (BioTrack, METRC, MJ Freeway).
* Develops internal audit procedures for all business entities in various states and localities.
* Conducts regular, random internal audits of facility operations and prepares written reports to senior management.
* Assists with remedial action to address gaps in facility operational compliance and mitigate future risks.
* Helps prepare for facility inspections, government regulatory investigations, and external audits.
* Reviews government investigation findings, and assists with preparing and implementing corrective action plans.
* Drafts official communications and assists with responses to government agencies and other regulatory bodies.
* Provides regulatory guidance for marketing and advertising materials in operating states and localities.
* Partners with operational leads to ensure record-keeping and security requirements are met at every facility.
* Monitors changes to cannabis laws, regulations, and industry guidance in various states and municipalities.
**Minimum Qualifications:**
* Bachelors degree required.
* Must be at least 21 years of age.
* A minimum 3-5 years compliance experience in highly-regulated industry.
* Experience in cannabis seed-to-sale software programs required (BioTrack, METRC, MJ Freeway)
* Ability and willingness to regularly travel to facilities throughout the U.S. required
**Preferred Qualifications:**
* Specific experience in cannabis retail dispensary operations strongly preferred.
**Physical and Mental Demands:**
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position, move and/or position oneself, communicate, operate and/or prepare, place, position objects, tools, or controls. The employee must occasionally move packages weighing up to 25 lb. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close observation and the ability to adjust focus.
