Job Description


Primarily, the Director of Next Gen and Church Life (NGCL) is responsible for the discipleship, care, and integration of young adults into the local body. In the same way, the NGCL assists the Pastor of Family and Local Engagement with teaching and care of the youth ministry. Overseeing Church Life/Hospitality gives a pathway to increase the church-wide engagement of youth and young adults. 


Objectives Of This Role


The NGCL shall have a heart for knowing God personally, for following Christ as a servant, and for keeping in step with the Spirit. Serving under the general supervision of the Pastor of Family and Local Engagement, the NGCL will pursue this teaching/discipleship effort in concert with families and the church body as a whole, with a particular focus on congregants in Middle School through Young Adult (roughly 30 years of age). The NGCL will also be the ministry leader for the fellowship/hospitality-based ministries and teams at Stone Hill Church (e.g. Church Life, Cafe, Front Door, Extended Family, etc.).


Essential Responsibilities and Duties



Young Adults



  • Establishes and directs the Young Adults Ministry.

  • Assists young adults in identifying and developing their spiritual gifts. 

  • Oversees the Young Adult Leadership Team and Mentoring Team.

  • Participate in and plan ministry activities in collaboration with the deacon(s) of college students.


Youth Ministry



  • Teaches on Friday evenings at Youth Group on a weekly basis.

  • Assists the Pastor of Family and Local Engagement in running the Youth Ministry program and events.

  • Disciples and mentors youth.

  • Recruits, cultivates, and disciples adult leaders/mentors/disciples for youth ministry, programs and events.

  • Assists graduating students in transitioning to the Young Adult Ministry.

  • Serves on the Family Ministry Team.


Church Life/Hospitality



  • Plans and implements “Fellowship” events for the Church and/or local community

  • Oversees the “Fellowship” ministry teams.  

  • Oversees the Front Door Ministry (recruiting, training, scheduling, visioning, etc). 

  • Develop lay leadership in this ministry area. 


Other Duties


Other duties as assigned by the Pastor of Family and Local Engagement or Senior Pastor.

  • Demonstrate a Christ-like attitude through all interactions with the congregation, staff, and volunteers.

  • Invest in and invite others to know Jesus and come to Stone Hill Church


Spiritual



  • Be a believer of Jesus Christ with a desire to humbly serve the Lord.

  • Agree wholeheartedly with the Apostles’ Creed and Nicene Creed, as well as the doctrinal statement, mission statement, staff covenant, programs, practices, and teaching positions of Stone Hill Church of Princeton.

  • Live a life of integrity in growing conformity to the standards of spiritual leadership set forth in Scripture (e.g. 1 Tim 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9, Gal. 5:22).


Education 


A Bachelor’s degree preferred in Christian Education, Bible, Counseling or a related field 


Ordained, seeking ordination, or willing to seek ordination


Experience


Minimum of 3 years of working with youth. 


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Commitment to interact with people in a godly, gracious, and courteous manner.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Maintain a long-term pursuit of learning and a passion for the life of the mind.

  • Be a self-starter and an initiative taker.


Physical Demands



  • Ability to interact with youth and young adults in sports/games, retreats, and overnight events.

  • Willingness and ability to work nights and weekends as required.


Reporting


Reports to the Pastor of Family and Local Engagement and the Senior Pastor.  Like all other staff, the NGCL is ultimately accountable to the Board of Elders. The Board of Elders may change reporting relationships at its discretion.


Working Conditions | Schedule


Full-time, Salaried, Exempt, Indoor/office, outdoor.
