Newly developing multi-specialty Ambulatory Surgery Center in Camp Hill, PA, is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing. The Director of Nursing will be instrumental and responsible for the clinical operation of a multi-specialty ASC and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for overseeing clinical operations and ensuring the center meets all clinical, operational, and regulatory objectives. The DON has decision-making authority to support daily operations and maintain the safety of patients and staff, delegating tasks to the nurse charge as appropriate. This role fosters a culture of trust, empowerment, and collaboration among staff, while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory and accreditation standards. The DON also supports the medical staff in upholding clinical best practices and is accountable to the Slate Hill Board, Surgery Center Administrator, and Medical Director for clinical performance and operational excellence. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Oversees daily operations of the ASC to ensure delivery of timely, high-quality, and cost-effective care, while fostering strong provider relations and collaboration across departments.
• Provides leadership in regulatory compliance and privacy, implementing and monitoring adherence to board-approved policies, government regulations, and accrediting body standards.
• Hires, develops, and evaluates staff to ensure engagement, competency, and critical thinking. Leads performance planning, coaching, and personnel actions including scheduling, hiring, training, evaluations, promotions, transfers, and disciplinary actions.
• Develops and oversees comprehensive training programs, including live, online, and outsourced education, to ensure staff are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills for all ASC functions.
• Conducts department meetings and facilitates ongoing communication across all facility teams.
• Coordinates time and attendance and collaborates with leadership for bi-weekly payroll processing.
• Provides direct support to surgeons by ensuring service team readiness and appropriately assigning personnel. Delegates responsibilities to professional, technical, and ancillary staff as needed to maintain efficient workflow and patient care delivery.
• Manages administrative functions to ensure effective staff operations, including coordination of supplies, materials, and equipment in partnership with supply chain leadership.
• Directs and oversees activities in the operating room suite to maintain smooth clinical operations.
• Drives clinical and operational efficiency, aligning productivity with established benchmarks and ensuring optimal use of nursing and resource capabilities.
• Manages site employees, physical environment, clinical workflows, and care delivery to ensure consistent, high-quality patient experiences.
• Maintains compliance with state licensure requirements and regulatory updates, including CLIA, pharmacy, and DEA anesthesia regulations.
• Implements and maintains Environment of Care and NFPA 101: Life Safety Code standards to support patient and staff safety.
• Ensures infection control practices align with all federal and state standards, including sterilization, high-level disinfection, environmental cleaning, and employee health.
• Plans for and maintains readiness for medical emergencies, including staffing, equipment, medications, and integration into the Emergency Preparedness Plan.
• Builds and maintains effective working relationships with the Governing Board, medical staff, partners, patients, families, and facility personnel.
• Collaborates with the Nurse Administrator to develop and implement cost-effective strategies and operational improvements.
• Motivates and empowers staff to support the center’s mission and values.
• Participates in assessment and training of staff in other departments, as requested.
• Performs other related duties as assigned to support the success of the center.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in nursing, along with a minimum of five years of supervisory/management experience.
• Experience with ambulatory surgery center (ASC) operation is preferred.
• Knowledge of State, Federal, and Accrediting Body regulations (AAAHC) as well as healthcare standards.
• The candidate should be willing to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for professional development and have experience in personnel management.
• Additionally, evidence of continuing education directly related to the job specifications is required.
