Director of Nursing Program

Description

Stephens College seeks an exceptional leader and educator to serve as the Director of its Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. The BSN was launched in 2020 and is now fully accredited by CCNE and the Missouri State Board of Nursing. The program is positioned for future growth and expansion, building on its foundational partnership with Boone Health, a 5-time Magnet designated hospital adjacent to campus, investments in high quality simulation and skills laboratory facilities, and a new traditional 4-year track complementing its accelerated 3-year direct-entry track and transfer-friendly approach.

Stephens College is the second oldest Women’s College in the United States and boasts a 190-year history of forward-thinking innovation, a campus in the heart of a vibrant college town, and a dedication to the development of the next generation of leaders in clinical fields. The Director of Nursing reports to the Dean of the Women’s College as part of the School of Health Sciences, the latter of which includes clinical graduate programs in Physician Assistant Studies and Clinical Mental Health Counseling. The new Director will build on existing strengths, seek opportunities for expanded reach, and advocate for programmatic needs and innovations. We are most interested in candidates who can build and maintain a teamwork atmosphere that is mutually supportive and focused on student achievements, lead community-facing partnerships that support student professional development, and be at the forefront of student recruitment and retention.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Academic planning, curricular design, program development, and coordination/oversight of all academic offerings, programmatic policies, and compliance with accreditation standards in collaboration with program faculty
• Accreditation, compliance, annual reporting
• Budgeting, hiring, financial expenditures, and resource management
• Program faculty training
• Liaison with Boone Health and other community partners, ensuring program integration and workforce development goals are met
• Student outcome assessment and evaluation of program effectiveness
• Student recruitment, retention, and completion efforts
• Marketing and outreach
• Development of student practicum experiences
• Chair program faculty meetings, advisory council meetings, and program reviews
• Oversee and support staff and adjunct faculty in the program
• Maintain research/scholarship and/or clinical activities

Requirements

  Qualifications

• Unencumbered Missouri RN license or eligible for Missouri Licensure
• PhD,  EdD, or Doctor of Nursing (DNP) degree
• Experience consistent with an initial appointment as Associate Professor with tenure
• Achievements in program design and administration, and curricular innovation
• Five or more years’ experience as a practicing nurse
• Experience with program accreditation, assessment, and continuous best-practices review

 Preferred Qualifications

• Leadership experience in a Nursing or other clinical program
• Self-directed, community-minded, and enthusiastic leader
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment in a leadership position
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Ability and desire to be the public-facing representative of the program
