Director of Nutrition

POSITION TITLE:   Director of Nutrition   

REPORTS TO:            Executive Director

FTHRA seeks to hire a Director of Nutrition based at our headquarters in Johnson City. This position oversees the administration and compliance of our Meals on Wheels and Summer Child Food programs.  Supervisory experience required.  The program hours are Monday – Friday from 5:00 am – 4:00 pm. No Evenings; No Nights and No Weekends. 

JOB SUMMARY: Plans, organizes, directs, controls and evaluates the operation of the Nutrition Program/Meals on Wheels. Maintains and updates program policies and procedures to obtain program goals. Oversees all aspects of program personnel and purchasing. Approves menus. Provides nutrition education for all consumers monthly. Networks with other agencies to expand or improve service.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• 
  Overall responsibility for the Nutrition Program.


• 
  Prepares application for funds and annual budget, approves requests for purchase and assures inventory control.


• 
  Supervises, evaluates work performance, and approves time of all nutrition personnel.


• 
  Work cooperatively with others in a team setting.


• 
  Advertise, interview, recommend hiring, and ensures all new employees are trained appropriately.


• 
  Ensures the monitoring of all sites quarterly to confirm compliance with health TCA&D, and FTHRA regulations.


• 
  Approves menus to conform to the Tennessee Commission on Aging & Disability standards.


• 
  Abides by Agency rules, regulations, policies, procedures and Agency personnel manual.


• 
  Regular attendance is a primary and essential job function.


•

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

• 
  Thorough knowledge of food service management and quantity food production.


• 
  At least 5+ years of foodservice experience.


• 
  Effective and clear communicator with enthusiasm for teamwork.


• 
  Experience with planning and preparing meals and teaching those skills to others.


• 
  Experience working with food vendors.


• 
  Excellent customer service skills.


• 
  Strong organizational and time management skills.


• 
  Flexible, creative, and strong problem-solving and conflict management skills.


• 
  Knowledge of budget and grant administration.


• Bachelor's degree required - Extensive relevant professional level work experience could substitute for required education pending level of expertise/experience.


• 
  Experience networking, and relationship building with partner agencies a plus.
