General Summary:
Responsible for the operations and management of all MVHC pharmacy locations. The director will be responsible for developing and implementing pharmacy operations and flow, as well as policies and procedures. The director is responsible for compliance with all appropriate regulations, including Board of Pharmacy, DEA, and 340B. The director will manage pharmacists, patient recruitment, and will collaborate with other MVHC leaders to manage pharmacy-specific financials and 340B program utilization. In addition, the director will maintain relationships with vendors, regulatory agencies, and other 340B contracted providers. The director is also responsible for implementing and overseeing clinical pharmacy initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy required (Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) preferred)
- Experience: 5 years’ experience as a Pharmacist
- Certificate/License: Current Ohio Pharmacist license in good standing
Working Conditions:
- Carry up to 20 lbs. occasionally.
- Standing 1-2 hours at a time.
- Typical office setting.
- Ability to use equipment in an office environment.
- Walking approx. 30 minutes per hour throughout the day.
- Withstanding pressure and deals with emergency situations as needed.
- Average working hours with possible non-traditional hours.
- Potential for exposure to blood and body fluids on occasion in clinic setting.
- Ability to deal with upset or disgruntled patients in order to deescalate the situation.
- Ability to reach, grasp, and hold various objects.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction for achieving high-quality customer service, high levels of patient satisfaction, meeting patient enrollment goals, and addressing patient concerns and complaints.
- Implementation and evaluation of pharmacy services.
- Provide supervision and guidance for clinical operations and clinical decision making for the pharmacy.
- Establish a clear direction for the department and motivate others to adopt the vision
- Develop business and performance goals, strategies, benchmarking, and evaluation.
- Assist with hiring process for new pharmacists
- Assess department needs, staffing patterns and recommend changes
- Lead and develop staff by providing feedback, building skills and knowledge, and developing a high performing team.
- Identify educational needs of staff and provide education and in-service training to providers and staff.
- Maintain departmental communications by holding meetings and responding to written and/or verbal questions and concerns in a timely manner.
- Functions as a staff pharmacist filling and dispensing prescriptions, counseling patients, advising physicians about drug therapy, performs clinical pharmacist services, and all other aspects of the pharmacist position.
- Address any patient or staff concerns that may arise
- Collaborate and assist with marketing and recruitment for pharmacy services
- Assist in implementing pharmacy clinical services, as well as billing practices for such
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and regulatory agencies, and ensure compliance
- Assist in implementation of future pharmacy locations
- Collaborate and assist in management of 340B contract pharmacies
- Ensures that 340B policies and procedures are developed, implemented, and maintained according to organizational, regional, national, state, and federal requirements.
- Develop and implement pharmacy policies and procedures
- Manage pharmacy-related financials, and collaborate for continued growth
- Collaborate with other departments to maintain a high standard of performance.
- Coordinate and share internal resources with other departments as appropriate.
- Manage inventory systems to assure acquisition of medications, appropriate control, dispensing of medications, and reconciliation in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Review and approve department supply requisitions. Maintain accurate inventory of medications.
- Understand and provide guidance on all necessary patient assistance services to ensure patients access to prescribed medications.
- Maintain knowledge of policy changes and requirements that affect the 340B Program, including HRSA rulings, and work with necessary MVHC staff to ensure compliance
- Serves as the Compliance Officer for the Specialty Pharmacy located at MVHC Cambridge
- Monitors financial performance in relation to budget and implements programs and systems to enhance financial performance.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
