Job Description - Director of Quality

Job Description

Job Description

Twelve is a new kind of chemical company built for the climate era. Our breakthrough technology eliminates emissions by turning CO2 into essential products. We are a team of scientists, engineers and problem solvers on a mission to fundamentally shift the way the world addresses climate change and lead the transition to a fossil free future with our carbon transformation technology.

Job Brief
As the Director of Quality, you will play a critical role in building and growing Twelve’s quality program. We are looking for you to develop and implement quality programs, continuous improvement initiatives, and establish a quality control and quality assurance organization to support our CO2 electrolyzer development and manufacturing. As a leader of the quality team, you will work cross-functionally with supply chain, materials scientists, process engineers, manufacturing operations, hardware and software engineering teams to champion quality across Twelve.

This is an on-site role primarily in Alameda, California, with split time in Berkeley.

What you will do:
Develop, implement, and sustain a comprehensive quality assurance and quality control program (QMS) for Twelve’s technology development. This program is expected to include:
Institute a quality preventative workflow that includes failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA).

Establish a control system and the controlling documentation that include IQC methods, management of change (MOC), and engineer change order (ECO).

Create and implement a quality detection process that includes non-conforming reporting (NCR), root cause analysis (RCA), statistical process control (SPC), material review board (MRB), and corrective and preventive action (CAPA).

Manage and continue building a functional team of quality control assurance and control technicians, supervisors, and engineers.

Build reliability and drive operational efficiency by developing and tracking performance metrics, such as monitoring quality of process, inputs, and outputs to improve product yield, throughput, cost, and manufacturability.

Be the voice of quality at Twelve by advocating the integration of quality measures at all steps of the development process.

Who you are:
We recognize that experience comes in different forms, many skills are transferable, and passion goes a long way. Even more important than your resume is a clear demonstration of skill, dedication, and ability to learn. A stand-out candidate would show general technical abilities, including but not limited to the following areas:
Demonstrate experience in developing, implementing, and managing quality management systems (QMS), and sustaining quality operations.

Familiarity with high-throughput production processes from bench to pilot-scale, especially those that focus on manufacturing electrochemical, electronic, or related devices (e.g. medical device, pharmaceutical or biotech) in a clean-room environment.

Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams, including a non-exempt workforce.

Excited to work as part of a highly collaborative, dynamic, and diverse team, especially through technical uncertainty and ambiguity.

Ability to influence and align quality expectations across the organization.

Exceptional data analysis using a scripting language with a focus on statistics.

Prioritize safety throughout your workflow.
