Job Description - Director of Research Operations

Our health system comprises six hospitals offering a comprehensive range of services to Southeast Florida. As a safety net hospital network, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care and advancing medical research in the region. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Research Operations to lead and grow our research department.

Position Overview:
The Director of Research Operations will be responsible for overseeing all research activities within our health system. This includes the start-up of studies, managing grants and contracts, and fostering relationships with academic sponsors and biotech companies. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with large teams, interacting with medical professionals, and bringing new studies to the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the initiation and management of clinical research studies.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with academic sponsors, biotech companies, and internal stakeholders.
Manage grants and contracts related to clinical research.
Conduct Medicare coverage analysis and ensure compliance with guidelines.
Provide leadership and support to a department of 55-70 employees, including two direct reports (Contracts Coordinator and IT/System Analyst).
Focus on oncology research, which constitutes two-thirds of our studies.
Ensure all research activities comply with regulatory standards and institutional policies.

Qualifications:
Advanced degree (PhD, MD, DO) preferred; Master’s degree with 10+ years of clinical trials experience considered (foreign degrees accepted).
Proven experience in oncology research, including guideline and drug knowledge.
Strong background in grants and contracts management.
Experience in Medicare coverage analysis.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills, comfortable speaking with medical professionals and large teams.
Experience in either academic, pharmaceutical, or healthcare settings.
