Education/Training:
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline required
Graduate degree in a related discipline preferred
Healthcare related training preferred
Licenses/Certification:
• Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) preferred
• IS 100, 200, 700 & 800
• Active Drivers' License
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Minimum of 5 years of experience leading safety and security in a healthcare/hospital environment, law enforcement or related discipline
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated, with the ability to effectively plan, prioritize, and shift priorities within changing needs
Strong understanding of the budgetary process, including preparation and management within established expense parameters
Outstanding interpersonal dynamic, with ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
Ability to work effectively with clinical and non-clinical personnel, in leading and coordinating safety and security activities to ensure safety of all staff
Experience in interacting with accrediting/regulatory organizations in maintaining compliance
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Familiarity with NFPA 99 and Life Safety Codes

Must be able to don and doff protective equipment. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds when assisting in a medical emergency or evicting an individual from the premises. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
