Position Overview

The Director, Special Projects is a senior individual contributor within the Office of the President, reporting directly to the President & CEO. This role serves as a strategic execution partner—ensuring that the organization’s highest-priority initiatives, communications, and leadership commitments move forward with clarity, discipline, and follow-through.

Operating at the intersection of strategy, operations, and executive communication, the Director translates leadership direction into coordinated action across the organization, prepares executive- and board-level materials, and maintains continuity of progress during periods of executive travel or external engagement. The role is ideal for a globally experienced professional who thrives in complex, mission-driven environments and can operate confidently at both strategic and execution levels.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Project Leadership

  • Lead execution of high-priority, cross-functional initiatives originating from the Office of the President

  • Translate executive priorities into clear plans, timelines, and deliverables with accountability

  • Coordinate inputs across departments to drive alignment and momentum

  • Proactively identify risks, delays, or misalignment and elevate them for action

Executive, Board & Donor Communications

  • Prepare polished executive-, board-, and donor-ready materials, including briefs and presentations

  • Synthesize complex medical, operational, and programmatic information into clear narratives

  • Support preparation and coordination of board packets and leadership materials

  • Draft correspondence and communications on behalf of the President when delegated

Strategic Planning & Organizational Performance

  • Support tracking and reporting for CURE’s multi-year strategic plan and annual priorities

  • Monitor progress against key initiatives, milestones, and organizational goals

  • Prepare concise executive and board updates on progress and priorities

  • Coordinate cross-departmental inputs to ensure accuracy and alignment

Office of the President Continuity

  • Maintain continuity of work during executive travel and external engagements

  • Track commitments, follow-ups, and open decisions to ensure nothing stalls

  • Partner closely with the Executive Assistant to support seamless information flow

  • Represent the Office of the President with professionalism, discretion, and mission alignment

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Global Health, Public Health (MPH), International Development, Health Policy, Health Administration, or a closely related field

  • 8–10+ years of experience in global health, international development, or complex mission-driven organizations

  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-stakeholder initiatives with responsibility for execution

  • Proven ability to support senior leadership and prepare executive- or board-level materials

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong judgment, discretion, and professionalism in handling sensitive information

  • Alignment with CURE’s Christian mission and values

Preferred

  • Experience supporting healthcare delivery organizations or hospital systems

  • Familiarity with global health environments involving ministries of health, donors, NGOs, or faith-based partners

  • Experience with strategic planning, organizational performance tracking, or enterprise-level initiatives

  • Prior exposure to board governance or major donor engagement

Work Environment & Travel

  • Based in Grand Rapids, Michigan (in office)

  • Occasional domestic and international travel required

Compensation & Benefits
