Job Title: Director of Specialized Supports
Department: Specialized Supports
Responsible To: Vice President of Programs
Responsible For: Direct Support Specialists, Team Lead
Status: Exempt
Level: 5
Tier: 1
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field including behavioral (ABA/PBS) training – BCBA Preferred.
Able to set and implement a mission-aligned vision for the program.
Able to build a collaborative and cohesive team.
Provide organizational leadership.
Excellent writing skills, professional appearance/demeanor.
Possession of a valid driver’s license, a reliable auto, a clean driving record and a willingness to use personal and agency vehicle in the course of employment.
Ability to lift and support body weight of any program individual with assistance of another employee.
CPR/First Aid/MAP certified or ability to obtain within six months of hire date.
Duties and Responsibilities:
I. Individual Services
Monitor the development and implementation of individual services for all individuals in the program.
Screen and select individuals for the program in consult with the Vice President of Programs.
Serve as a resource to program staff in responding to specific program needs.
Provide direct service to individuals in a sensitive, professional manner.
Monitor the ISP development for all individuals and ensure implementation and review by case managers.
Ensure that program records and files are maintained and will monitor and maintain an efficient and effective individual record keeping system.
Develop data collection systems for each individual and monitor the utilization of these systems with program staff, as needed.
Ensure that self-preservation requirements are met.
Advocate for individuals to maximize their community involvement and independence.
Support program participants right to express their religious affiliations and cultural traditions through preferred and relevant activities. Support diversity of individuals served through respect of religious preferences and/or cultural backgrounds.
Maintain positive relationships and communication with families/guardians of individuals served by the programs or assure that managers are doing so appropriately.
Ensure that Individual Support Plan goals and objectives are developed and implemented in accordance with Price Center and DDS guidelines. Attend, or designate attendee, at all ISP meetings.
Ensure ongoing data input into HCSIS in a timely manner.
II. Staff Supervision and Management
Provide regular programmatic supervision for all staff, including scheduled one-on-one supervision meetings at least bi-weekly.
Advertise, interview, hire and dismiss staff with the guidance of the HR and Vice President of Day Services.
Ensure that all staff are evaluated on their performance annually and provided feedback routinely.
Facilitate regular program staff meetings.
Meet regularly with direct reports to address issues and concerns, and to provide feedback on job performance.
Schedule regular and relief staff to ensure adequate staff coverage to accommodate the varied needs of the individuals served and to provide maximum supervisory support.
Monitor all case management of individuals by staff.
Coordinate and facilitate implementation of in-service training for staff.
Meet regularly with Vice President to discuss program’s direction.
Review and approve all staff bi-weekly time sheets, authorizing payment.
III. Program
Provide behavioral coaching, training, and feedback on a regular basis.
Assure quality in program implementation on a day-to-day basis.
Develop and implement program policies and procedures that reflect the individual operational needs of the program.
Participate in an evaluation of the organization and program annually.
Develop budget recommendations and present this information to the Vice President of Programs with subsequent submission for approval to the CFO and President.
Maintain Program Budget, assuring fiscal stability by staying within the parameters of the assigned line items.
Sustain program growth through referrals, new initiatives, and creative ideas in collaboration with the Vice President of Day Services and Chief Clinical Director.
Monitor the physical facility for safety/cleanliness and health and for maximum program efficiency.
Ensure the program’s compliance with the Price Center’s policies and procedures, contracts, State and Federal regulations and certification standards.
Review the activities of the Human Rights Committee in conjunction with the Human Rights Officer, ensuring that Behavior Guidelines are approved on a timely basis.
Ensure the timely completion of all assigned written materials. Ensure that they are effective operational systems to maintain proper control of individual funds.
IV. Agency Administration
Facilitate and oversee DDS Quality Enhancement compliance with guidance from the
Vice President of Programs.
Act as liaison with DDS and other agencies.
Attend weekly Director’s meetings.
Participate in agency-wide organizations and projects on an as-needed basis.
Assist the Price Center in the development of performance objectives for the state contract.
Monitor expenditures for the program and assist in the development of the program budget and state contract.
V. Community Relations
Represent the agency and the individuals to the other organizations and individuals in a positive, professional manner.
Maintain regular positive communications with families of individuals, neighbors, employers, service professionals and others.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of Department of Developmental Services, Department of Labor, Day Habilitation, OQE and CARF regulations.
Thorough working knowledge of state contracting system and program operations.
Knowledge of personal computer and software programs.
Skills:
Excellent organizational skills, problem-solving and communication skills.
Must possess excellent computer skills.
Must be able to do special projects and develop management information systems.
