Description

TheDirector of Talent Management- North America will work closely with the Chief People Officer and the North America Regional Management and Talent Committees. The role holder will articulate, lead, and execute the People strategy for North America, consistent with the Firm's People strategy. They will lead and manage the regional Talent Management function, including the resources across all locations and Practice Groups, and ensure a high-performance business-partnering function with consistently high standards and client service orientation.
Responsibilities:
Work with the Chief People Officer to develop and deliver a compelling People strategy across the Firm’s worldwide offices, with a primary focus on the North America markets
Lead North America’s Talent Management professionals, setting high standards and values, and embedding shared values of collaboration, creative thinking, and client service across the team
Deliver the unified Talent Management business partnering service across the North America offices and Practice Groups, building a leadership team to work closely with the Firm’s Lawyers and Business Professional functions to execute the People strategy at every level of the Firm
Work closely with the Regional Management Committee and Talent Management Committee to provide consultation on talent-related initiatives, contribute to decision-making and communication of information to North America and/or Firm leaders, and keep them informed of happenings in Talent Management regionally and globally
Partner closely with our Leadership & Learning and Recruitment teams as well as other functional teams to jointly deliver solutions for North America that deliver on our ambition to be the law firm employer of choice and deliver against the requirements of the business
Implement development and promotion processes across North America as well as execute regional process for promotion to National Partner/ Director of Economics, and promotion to Principal
Manage regional evaluation and compensation processes for all North America lawyers, except Principals, and all North America Business Professionals
Lead the North America Talent Management Committee in its oversight of talent reviews, lawyer hiring requests, and non-principal compensation processes
Play a critical role in influencing, identifying, and maximizing opportunities to improve the performance and potential capability of the Firm, enabling employees to deliver to the best of their abilities and work toward the next steps in their careers
Work with North America Talent Management professionals to drive organizational change and improvement across human resources, performance management and compensation, workforce planning, career development, and succession planning
Implement the Firm's response to its employee surveys in North America, working closely with the leadership in the People function to develop and execute enhanced People strategies
Along with the North America Country Human Resources leads, serve as lead North America Talent Management contact for North America leadership regarding sensitive people issues
Actively support the continued deployment of SuccessFactors and leverage the opportunity to simplify and evolve how we deliver services in the region and across the Firm
As we continue our focus on integration across the Firm, work with counter-parts and the applicable teams to streamline and create consistent approaches to certain talent practices
Skills and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree focusing on Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Organizational Development, Management, or other related areas
Extensive experience in HR/Talent management, preferably in a professional services firm environment
Experience of leading large HR/Talent Management teams across multiple offices and jurisdictions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact and influence at the highest levels of the Firm
Fluent written and spoken English is required
Ability to implement success in creating an environment of trust with partners; effectively utilize negotiation and conflict resolution skills when needed
Demonstrated ability to solve problems and drive results with a sense of urgency in setting strategies and executing against the objectives
Proven ability to influence, interact, and consult with senior leaders, strong collaboration skills, and effective stakeholder management
Experience managing risk and demonstrated judgment as to when and whether to engage legal counsel
Strong coaching, counselling, business acumen, and overall communication skills
