Director of Therapeutic Recreation

The Full-Time Director of Therapeutic Recreation is responsible for organization, coordination and facilitation of the TR Department at Lyngblomsten Care Center. They will plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of the activities department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, established facility policies and procedures and as directed by the Administrator. They help lead in communications and are an important part of the interdisciplinary care team.

The salary range of this exempt position is $58,200.00 to $70,700.00 The actual rate of pay offered within this range may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions. Additionally, our organization values pay equity and considers the internal equity of our team when making any offer. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience in a long term care facility.
• Degree preferred but not necessary.
• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.
• Must have the desire and the skills to work with the elderly in a long term care setting.
• Professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Organizational and planning skills with the ability to facilitate work groups to achieve stated goals.

Responsibilities

• Maintains compliance with applicable local, state and federal regulations.
• Plan, develop, implement and direct the activities programs of this facility.
• Develop recreational activities opportunities for the residents and individualized to resident needs.
• Plans and conducts regular department meetings to share concerns, disseminate information and coordinate department functions.
• Coordinate transportation for activities outings and as necessary to meet the individual needs of the residents.
• Contribute to the development of departmental budgets and workforce allocations in accordance with the budget.
