Director of Youth Faith Formation

Description

Responsibilities:

· Coordinate and supervise weekly Parish School of Religion on Wednesday evenings

· Plan yearly class schedule and events

· Recruit, train, and support volunteer catechists

· Coordinate student registrations and maintain attendance records

· Choose and purchase necessary textbooks and curricula items

· Implement the Diocesan youth formation program, “The Way”

· Coordinate and supervise youth sacramental preparation, specifically First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation

· Teach weekly Confirmation class on Sunday mornings

· Maintain necessary sacramental records, such as obtaining baptismal certificates and sponsor recommendation forms

· Coordinate parish youth group for 6th-12th graders on Sunday evenings

· Organize and run parish summer camp

· Support parents as the primary educators of their children

· Communicate necessary information in a timely and professional manner with parents

· Listen to what parents have to say concerning the formation of their child

· Organize and facilitate Children’s Liturgy of the Word at 9:00am and 11:00am Sunday Masses

· Coordinate and fundraise for growing Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program

Requirements

Qualifications:

· Practicing Catholic with conduct consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church. 

· Degree preferred in theology or religious education, or equivalent experience

· Previous experience with religious education or youth ministry preferred

· Ability to work evenings and weekends
