Highlights:
Summary: The Director, Patient Access shall be responsible to provide strategic, enterprise‑wide leadership for all patient access functions across a multi‑facility health system. This individual will be accountable to design, optimize, and sustain high‑reliability workflows across pre‑registration, insurance verification, prior authorization, financial clearance, financial counseling, centralized scheduling, emergency department access, inpatient and outpatient registration, and guest services.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management, Business Administration or related major required, Master’s degree preferred. Minimum 10 years of progressive Patient Access experience within a hospital or multi-facility health system required. Minimum 7 years’ direct leadership experience in Patient Access; including oversight of Emergency Department, Main Admitting, Ambulatory Registration, Financial Clearance, Insurance Verification, Scheduling, Authorization, and Medical Necessity.
Licensure/Certification:
Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) certification preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Evidence of commitment to continuing education.
Ability to maintain a professional and customer centric composure in difficult or challenging situations.
Ability to work from broad directions and be self-motivated.
Ability to prioritize workload to achieve maximum efficiency.
Ability to effectively communicate with people of various backgrounds throughout the organization.
Ability to provide a positive customer service experience to guest, visitors, and patients.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.
Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
Demonstrated success leading system-wide standardization, process improvement, and KPI-driven performance.
Understanding of insurance coverage, managed care, Medicare/Medicaid, commercial payers, medical necessity, and authorization/denial workflows.
Strong analytical communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex environment.
