Job Summary and Qualifications
The Director of Privileged Access leads HCA’s PAM team, which is responsible for several specialty areas focused on protecting and defending HCA’s patients and business through the identification, analysis, and mitigation of identity-based threats to all of HCA’s technology and information resources while still providing a secure frictionless privileged access experience. This will involve ongoing forward thinking to establish a strategy that addresses the continuous change in the identity technology and privileged access environment.
The Director of Privileged Access is a member of a trusted leadership team that drives the enforcement of information protection best practices, policies, and standards, and offers guidance across the organization to ensure the safeguard of HCA’s proprietary data, assets, and resources from internal and external threats.
This role will have a high degree of complexity due to the company’s size, variation of identity threats, and unique needs of HCA’s internal and external users. We are in search of new, experienced- based approaches to evolve HCA’s identity & access offerings.
The essential responsibilities and accountabilities of this position including interactions with other departments and outside vendors, if applicable, in PRIORITY order. The general responsibilities of this position are related to supporting our Privileged Access Management domain (one of the five major domains in our larger Identity & Access program). As a leader of the Privileged Access Management team, you will be responsible for: Serving as the product owner of our internally developed Privileged Access Management UI (PAMX).
Driving adoption of HCA’s PAM credential and key vaulting technologies (HashiCorp Vault, Imprivata OneSign, Bravura PAM)
Defining appropriate use of cloud key management systems such as Google KMS and Azure Key Vault.
Leading a team dedicated to securing credentials used for data transmissions to third parties
Facilitating provisioning of administrative access into SOX regulated and other highly privileged applications. -
Managing the team responsible for HCA’s Vendor Privileged Access Management solution
Deploying Entra ID Privileged Identity Management and various P2 features related to privileged access.
Remediating audit items related to Privileged Access Management.
You will be able to demonstrate an advanced understanding of identity and access management practices and technologies with a strong focus on principle of least privilege. You will instill a similar understanding within the team to ensure that they securely address the information security needs of the organization through privileged access management.
As a leader on the Identity & Access team, you will establish a culture within the team and within the overall organization, leveraging leadership behaviors to drive organizational awareness and adoption of privileged access management principles.
Other Responsibilities
This person will be expected to develop, coordinate, guide, and execute departmental strategic and operational plans, participating proactively with HCA corporate, division, and facility management to implement the changes in support of the company’s privileged access and cyber risk strategy.
Candidate must be a results-oriented information security leader with a demonstrated track record of success in maturing security operations in a large, complex environment, focused on privileged access.
This person will maintain contact with IT suppliers and knowledge of current technology, equipment, prices, and terms of agreements to minimize the investment required to meet established service levels.
To successfully deliver on all primary focus areas of the team, candidate must be able to effectively communicate and work across the entire organization with several levels of management.
This position has significant fiscal responsibilities that contribute to the overall department budget, including planning, spending, reviewing, and adjusting spending to stay within acceptable and approved variances.
Candidate will be expected to lead the development and implementation of department initiatives. Candidate is expected to mentor and grow the identity and access team members by relying on management experiences of the past and resources provided by HCA.
It is imperative the candidate be able to nurture and grow security relationships outside the company and across multiple industries.
Candidate is expected to manage resources for delivery on project commitments and security and related privileged access initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Must demonstrate an exceptional understanding of comprehensive security privileged access programs, including technologies and tools, as well as the business aspects of threat, vulnerability, and risk management
Must possess strong critical thinking and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to identify risks associated with business processes, IT operations, information security programs, and technology projects
Must be able to coordinate critical, sensitive incidents spanning multiple locations
Must mentor other managers, engineers, and analysts in security practices, specifically in the area of privileged access
Must maintain an understanding of the current vulnerabilities, response, and mitigation strategies used in cybersecurity operations
Advanced experience with operational support for operating systems, applications and networks • Comprehensive knowledge of client/server relationships
Must have a comprehensive understanding of core security, privileged access and compliance concepts
Demonstrable experience leading technical computer security and privileged access incidents
Experiences with SIEM, threat & vulnerability research and intelligences, and threat analytics
Must show demonstrable experience directly or associated with malware analysis and penetration testing

Seven (7) years of experience in the technology field with several years working in a management capacity.
Demonstrated success working with and through people in establishing goals, objectives, and action plans to produce expected results.
Experience managing multiple areas of technology and multiple departments.
Ability to define and improve work processes.
Advanced strategic planning abilities with operational vision.
