We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and forward-thinking Director, Social Media to lead and grow GH’s social media capabilities. This role will set the strategic direction for integrated social programs, serve as a senior advisor to clients, lead and develop social talent, and ensure our work connects social media to broader business and communications objectives.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise across organic and paid social, content strategy, influencer and creator marketing, community and reputation management, analytics, executive thought leadership, and integrated communications. This leader will work across GH’s disciplines to elevate the work, strengthen client relationships, and identify opportunities to grow the agency’s social offering.

Social Strategy & Practice Leadership

• Lead the development of comprehensive social media strategies aligned with client business goals and communications objectives
• Set the strategic vision, standards, and best practices for GH’s social media offering across clients and industries
• Oversee annual, quarterly, and campaign-specific social plans, ensuring clear audience strategies, channel roles, content frameworks, and measurable objectives
• Stay ahead of platform, technology, cultural, and creator trends and translate them into opportunities for clients and GH
• Guide the integration of social media with earned media, paid media, influencer marketing, executive thought leadership, brand strategy, and content marketing

Client Leadership

• Serve as a senior strategic counselor to clients on social media, reputation, community engagement, and emerging opportunities
• Lead high-level strategy presentations, workshops, planning sessions, and executive conversations
• Translate business and communications objectives into actionable social strategies and measurable outcomes
• Provide senior oversight on sensitive social issues, reputation management, and crisis communications

Content & Creative Leadership

• Establish the strategic direction for editorial calendars, platform content, executive thought leadership, and social storytelling
• Guide teams in developing platform-native content across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, and emerging channels
• Partner with creative, video, communications, and paid media leaders to ensure social content is integrated, distinctive, and effective
• Review and elevate high-visibility content and campaigns while empowering team members to own day-to-day execution

Influencer & Creator Strategy

• Lead influencer and creator strategy, including partnership models, vetting standards, campaign approaches, and measurement
• Provide senior oversight of outreach, negotiations, contracts, deliverables, and reporting
• Develop creator partnership programs that align with client objectives and strengthen brand relevance

Paid Social & Measurement

• Partner with digital advertising leadership to develop integrated organic and paid social strategies
• Guide audience segmentation, targeting approaches, budget recommendations, testing strategies, and optimization
• Establish meaningful KPIs and measurement frameworks tied to business and communications objectives
• Translate performance data into senior-level insights, recommendations, and opportunities for clients

Team Leadership & Development

• Lead, mentor, and develop social media talent, including providing direction, feedback, and opportunities for growth
• Oversee workload, quality, and consistency across social media accounts and assignments
• Build scalable processes, tools, and standards that strengthen the quality and efficiency of GH’s social media work
• Collaborate across disciplines to determine the right resources and expertise for client needs

Business Development & Agency Growth

• Represent GH’s social media capabilities in new business opportunities and prospective client conversations
• Help shape scopes, approaches, staffing plans, and recommendations for social media engagements
• Identify opportunities to expand social media services within existing client relationships
• Contribute thought leadership and perspective that strengthens GH’s position in the marketplace

Experience, skills, knowledge.

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising, or related field preferred
• 12-15 years of progressive social media, digital communications, or integrated marketing experience; significant agency experience strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience leading social strategy for complex brands or organizations and advising senior-level clients
• Deep knowledge of major social platforms, content strategy, community management, influencer/creator marketing, paid social, analytics, and reputation management
• Experience leading and developing teams and overseeing work across multiple accounts
• Strong business development skills, including presenting capabilities, shaping scopes, and contributing to pitches
• Exceptional writing, presentation, facilitation, and executive communication skills
• Ability to connect social media performance to broader business and communications outcomes
• Strong strategic judgment, creative problem solving, and the ability to lead through fast-moving or sensitive situations
