Job Description - Director, Supply Chain Distribution Requirements Planning

At Medtronic you can begin a life-long career of exploration and innovation, while helping champion healthcare access and equity for all. You’ll lead with purpose, breaking down barriers to innovation in a more connected, compassionate world.

A Day in the Life

The Director, Supply Chain – Distribution Requirements Planning (LATAM & Canada) is responsible for defining and executing regional Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) strategies across Latin America and Canada, ensuring optimal product availability while balancing service, inventory, and cost in diverse and complex market environments.

In this role, you will lead end to end DRP execution, including demand translation, inventory positioning, deployment planning, and cross dock/replenishment strategies, with a strong focus on regional constraints such as import/export dynamics, lead time variability, and infrastructure differences.

At Medtronic, we bring bold ideas forward with speed and decisiveness to put patients first in everything we do. In-person exchanges are invaluable to our work. We’re working a minimum of 4 days a week onsite as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary.

Focusing on Regional Strategy & Execution, you will:

  • Define and execute DRP strategies for LATAM and Canada, aligning replenishment, deployment, and inventory policies with regional market dynamics, regulatory requirements, and network constraints.

  • Optimize inventory positioning across distribution centers, cross‑docks, and in‑country locations to improve service levels and mitigate supply and lead‑time variability.

  • Implement differentiated planning approaches across diverse markets and supply models.

Leading Planning Performance & Governance, you will:

  • Drive regional performance across key metrics including product availability, backorders, inventory health, and adherence to supply and deployment plans.

  • Strengthen governance through S&OP/S&OE processes, KPI management, and proactive escalation of risks.

  • Ensure effective planning parameters and policies that balance service, inventory, and operational constraints.

Driving Cross‑Functional Leadership, you will:

  • Partner with Manufacturing, Logistics, Network Strategy, Trade Compliance, and Commercial teams to align supply priorities and resolve structural constraints.

  • Lead allocation and prioritization strategies during constrained supply scenarios to ensure strategic distribution across markets.

Expanding Continuous Improvement & Digital Enablement, you will:

  • Lead DRP transformation initiatives to improve lead‑time reliability, reduce manual orders, optimize cross‑dock flows, and increase regional deployment efficiency.

  • Expand use of planning and analytics tools (e.g., Blue Yonder, Power BI) to improve automation, visibility, and data‑driven decision making.

Leadership & Organizational Development, you will:

  • Build and develop a high‑performing, geographically distributed DRP organization.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement while strengthening regional planning capabilities.

Driving Strategic & Financial Impact, you will:

  • Influence supply chain investment and operational decisions by evaluating trade‑offs across service, inventory, and cost in regional contexts.

  • Ensure DRP operations comply with regulatory, trade, and quality requirements while upholding Medtronic’s Put Patient First commitment.

Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant Supply Chain experience with 7+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant Supply Chain experience with 7+ years of managerial experience.

  • Significant experience in Distribution Requirements Planning, supply chain planning, or network planning, with direct exposure to Latin America and/or Canada markets.

  • Proven track record of designing and executing DRP strategies in complex, multi-country environments with high variability.

Nice to Have:

  • Strong understanding of regional supply chain challenges including import/export flows, customs, infrastructure variability, and extended lead times.

  • Demonstrated success leading teams across geographies, including managing managers and senior individual contributors.

  • Expertise in advanced planning systems (e.g., Blue Yonder) and inventory optimization methodologies.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
