Responsibilities
Peraton's Citizen Security and Public Services sector is seeking a Director, Systems Architect to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Herndon , VA. The qualified applicant will become part of Peraton's Department of State (DOS) Consular Systems Modernization (CSM) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative is intended to modernize and consolidate the operational environment under a common technology framework in order to better support the services provided to CA's customers.
As part of the modernization program, the Director, Systems Architect will be responsible for leading the architecture team and providing technical guidance across the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements definition and prototyping, software design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. The Systems Architect, SME will lead the development of architectural solutions for software, hardware, and communications across the CSM Program.
Roles and Responsibilities:
•Lead the architecture team and provide technical guidance across the CSM Program •Provide thought leadership for defining strategies that drive modernization •Maintain a holistic perspective of the modernization strategy • Research, evaluate, and recommend tools and technologies for the CSM Program •Define and maintain architecture and technology roadmap for modernization •Define architectural solutions for complex software systems using hybrid cloud architecture, multicloud architecture, microservice architecture, and cloud-based solutions (SaaS/PaaS/IaaS) •Define and communicate architectural guidelines for software systems architecture and design •Develop models and blueprints to convey solutions across the CSM Program •Analyze legacy systems and develop modernization strategies that incrementally deliver new features and support decommissioning over time •Lead presentations and interactions with CA technical leadership (CIO and Chief Engineer) DOSCSM
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree in STEM and at least 16 years' experience. •At least 10 years of application development and architecture experience, including hands-on experience with SaaS-based services, Single Page Application (SPA) frameworks, REST-based Microservices, and structured transactional database solutions using an RDBMS database. •Experience with static code analyzers (CAST, HP Fortify, SonarQube, etc.) •Demonstrated knowledge of current public cloud computing technologies and current computing trends. •Demonstrated familiarity with modern data architectures and technologies •Experience working in an Agile and DevSecOps environment. •Working knowledge and experience with Kubernetes (K8s), Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Case Management (CM) solutions, and Identity & Access Management (IAM) systems. •Experience simplifying and communicating complicated technical architectures and concepts to management, customer, and partners. •Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing. •Active Secret (or higher) clearance (interim acceptable). Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in enterprise software system modernization efforts. • Experience architecting and developing software within a SAFe Agile environment. • Experience in cloud based environments including the development of software that supports architectures that involve hybrid clouds. • Experience architecting and developing high volume, highly available, and secure software systems. • Experience architecting, developing, and deploying software systems in an incremental manner using the SAFe Agile methodology. Target Salary Range
$176,000 - $282,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
