Position Summary

Responsible for the strategic and tactical execution of global STERIS transportation operations. Inclusive of carrier RFQs, rate negotiations, contracting, performance management, and freight bill audit and pay. Ensure global coverage, capability and integration with STERIS systems and processes. Collaborate with key stakeholders to create and maintain flexible transportation capabilities to meet internal and external customer needs. Ensure providers are compliant with all applicable laws and regulations regardless of region of operation. Drive cost containment through provider rationalization, utilization, mode, and service level optimization. Resolve issues timely and collaboratively.
What will you do

Ensure transportation lead times for specialized transportation and ocean containers are aligned to supply chain standards in order to minimize equipment dwell time at manufacturing plants. Prepare annual transportation budgets, analyze monthly variances, and initiate corrective actions.
Lead cross functional groups to ensure traffic activities between sites and/or to customers are coordinated and optimally managed.
Ensure C-TPAT compliance is maintained at US-based STERIS facilities. Partner with Compliance to ensure import/export record keeping is aligned to governmental requirements.
Lead a positive work environment by promoting established safety practices and enforcing these practices. Review monthly operational reports and heads the site’s Central Safety Committee.
Responsible to ensure all transportation providers adhere to STERIS policies, to include safety, when operating at any STERIS site.
Completes Capital Appropriation Requests as required, supporting the location's operating requirements.
Serves as the chief subject matter expert for TMS (Clippership, ShipConsol).
Serves as the departments leader with the Environmental, Health and Safety, and other internal/external agencies or groups. Leads and acts as a change agent for corporate security measures for the facility, products, and human resources. Participate with regional/global footprint studies to ensure transportation costs are fully understood.
Promotes good relations and effective management with Senior Leaders and employees, focusing on productivity, attendance, and general order required for transportation operations at all sites.
Owns and is accountable for departmental budgets, expenditures, and site management. Presents monthly operating performance metrics, semi-annual Management Review Board reports, and other operational summaries in coordination with distribution senior management.
Ensures as needed 24/7 coverage for the handling of emergency Customer orders.
Monitor key performance measures applicable to S&OP execution and execute action plans with distribution senior management. Identify, secure approvals for, and direct the implementation of capital improvement projects.

What you will need to be successful

Bachelor’s Degree - in Business or Operations/Supply Chain related discipline
10+ years’ experience in global transportation, covering all major modes (Truck, LTL, parcel, ocean, rail), warehouse shipping/receiving, technology (TMS) implementation and use, and integration with other supply chain systems.
10+ years supervisory or management experience. Leading teams of 50+, standard work development, and P&L ownership.
Ability to develop business strategies and create buy in with all levels of the organization in a clear, efficient, and effective manner.
3+ years Lean Experience.
Experience working in a regulated industry.
Shipping and transporting hazardous materials in accordance with governmental regulations.
Project management experience

Pay range for this opportunity is [[160,000]] - [[170,000]]. This position is eligible for bonus particpation.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.

Full-Time employees are eligible for four weeks of paid parental leave. Part-time employees also receive paid parental leave, pro-rated based on their standard hourly work week.
