POSITION SUMMARY:

As Intercept continues to build its position as the leader in rare and serious liver disease, we are seeking a Director, US Commercial Training. The Director, US Commercial Training will primarily be responsible for identifying the training and development needs of the Sales and Market Access teams to support the ongoing evolution of our commercial organization. This position will report into will report to the VP of Operations and Analytics.

This role is accountable for the establishment and management of a learning curriculum including designing, developing various learning opportunities through instructional materials, training courses and multimedia technologies. You will align our learning strategies and programs to business strategies to realize measurable business impact. The role oversees the Associate Director of Sales Training and will collaborate with HR business partners and cross functional business leaders to identify, create, and address gaps in learning. This includes developing and executing a project plan and learning strategy that will guide and manage critical competency enhancements by analyzing, designing, developing, and implementing learning activities.

This role is high impact/high visibility within the US commercial organization. It offers a unique opportunity to shape and enhance the growing organization from the ground level. The successful candidate will need to collaborate closely with other functional and geographical teams across the company including but not limited to Sales, Sales Operations, Marketing, Market Access, Market Insights, Human Resources, Regulatory, Legal/Compliance and Medical Affairs.

For virtually located candidates, role is expected to be present in NJ HQ office at least one week per month.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The successful candidate must be able to perform each of the following satisfactorily, with or without an accommodation:

  • Learning Strategy Development: Lead the Commercial and Sales Training learning strategy development. Develop learning and performance resources that directly align with US Commercial strategic initiatives and support the Sales Training learning strategy. Ensures alignment with US corporate leadership development strategy.
  • Training Execution: Utilize innovative practices, research, insight, experience and understanding of the needs and culture of Intercept to develop and deliver instructor led, e-learning, or blended learning training programs.
  • Innovative Practices: Encourages and promotes innovative learning practices within the learning community, including research and application of latest trends and best practices in learning.
  • Compliance and recording: Coordinate and ensure compliance of all training material adaptation to US Commercial regulatory requirements. Ensure appropriate documentation and reporting.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration: Actively partner with HR, Marketing, Market Insights, Sales, Market Access, Commercial Operations, Regulatory, Legal/Compliance, and Medical Affairs to develop training materials, resources, and project plans.
  • Vendor engagement: Coordinate and execute vendor engagements needed to develop necessary courses and events.
  • Project Management: Provide project management for critical projects. Lead teams during project initiatives. Devise project plans, timelines, and project charters.
  • Budget Development, Management and Reporting: Development of annual budget and on-going responsibility for execution to plan. Conduct routine monitoring and provide updates as required.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 10+ years of overall pharmaceutical/biotechnology experience required
  • Prior people management experience preferred
  • Prior sales and sales leadership experience required.
  • Prior market access experience required
  • Training and Development or Learning Management experience is required.
  • Performance, Development or Design experience a plus.
  • Ability to travel to key meetings as well as spend time in the field to engage customer facing teams to assess performance needs and identify ways to refine skills
  • For virtually located candidates, role is expected to be present in NJ HQ office at least one week per month

In 2016, Ocaliva® was the first medication to be approved for PBC in over twenty years, and sales continue to grow.

Intercept continues to build on our ongoing commitment to people living with PBC by progressing our research portfolio with a novel fixed-dose combination of OCA and bezafibrate. Phase 2 analyses of this combination were presented at the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) congress in June of 2023 and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD)’s The Liver Meeting in November of 2023.Further, we are leveraging our decades of research and background in bile acids and FXR agonism to expand our pipeline in other liver diseases, such as severe alcohol-associated hepatitis (sAH).

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The anticipated starting salary range for this position is $190,000 to $230,000. This represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range, based on various factors including, but not limited to, experience, skillset, and performance.

The salary range listed is just one component of our total compensation package. Successful applicants will also be eligible to receive annual bonuses at the discretion of the Company. Intercept also provides a competitive suite of benefits, including:
