Reporting to the Senior Director, Digital Engagement Technology, the Director, Web Technology oversees and enhances the Rutgers University Foundation (RUF) and Rutgers University Alumni Association (RUAA) web presence, including websites, events platforms, and giving sites.
Essential Functions
- Manage the organization’s websites, including the primary website, giving site, and event registration system. This includes executing a strategy for RUF and RUAA web properties, as well as maintaining and updating RUF and RUAA websites to ensure compliance with university, foundation, and legal requirements. The Director will also oversee the creation of landing pages, microsites, complex event registrations, fund links, and forms as needed.
- Assist with web redesign process for RUF and RUAA sites as needed, including evaluation of site functionality and aesthetics, vendor search and selection, collaboration across organization on business goals and audience needs, and implementation.
- Create event and website templates and other resources to empower brand ambassadors to promote programs and initiatives on behalf of the organization. Document, promote, and train partners on policies and best practices. Train partners to make edits to web pages, as needed.
- Ensure websites are updated in collaboration with the Leadership as well as the Marketing Communications creative team, social media team, and email team efforts.
- Lead discussions in website design best practices to ensure that design advances RUF and RUAA priorities.
- Stay abreast of best practices and emerging trends in content development and personalized web content.
- Establish and manage website analytics frameworks to monitor performance, interpret user behavior, and generate actionable insights that inform strategic updates and enhancements.
- Manage and improve organic search engine performance and goal setting based on click-through rates, traffic, and conversions. Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and changes using Google Analytics, Search Engine Optimization, and major search engines.
- Manage the web tech team, including a full-time employee and contractors.
- Manage vendor relationships as needed.

Education and/or Experience
- A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in a related field and a minimum of at least three years of web management experience, ideally at institutions of higher education or non-profits in an integrated advancement division.
- Experience in optimizing content management tools for user experience, event management tools, and web technology (HyperText Markup Language (HTML), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) ).
- Experience in establishing and maintaining system documentation, training materials, and user training.
- Experience with the following platforms and skills: Pantheon, WordPress, Drupal, HTML/CSS, website accessibility, and Google Analytics.
- Experience with event management platforms, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Google Data Studio, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and US marketing laws is preferred but not required.
Working Conditions
This position requires clarity of focus while juggling complex projects or deadlines with little physical effort. Will work evenings, weekends, or odd hours to meet organizational commitments. Typical working conditions with an absence of disagreeable elements. This position requires some early mornings and late evenings to accommodate meetings, travel, events, and external constituent’s schedules.
Workplace Arrangements
This is classified as an office-centric hybrid position. Colleagues working under an office-centric hybrid arrangement have a primary workstation in a university or foundation location and are in the office between one and five days a week. The frequency with which they are present in the office depends on their role and function and the interdependency of other functions.
Compensation and Benefits
The position is budgeted for an annual salary of $110,000. In addition to salary, Rutgers University Foundation offers:
