Job Description - Director-The Friendship Place

Job Overview


The Friendship Place Program Director plans, directs, and coordinates services and activities for the Central Florida Dreamplex adult day program.  This position oversees daily operations of the program and hires, trains, and leads a staff of compassionate caregivers to meet the mission of the Dreamplex and the needs of program attendees to achieve a more independent and fulfilling life through daily living activities, personal care, social engagement, community integration, and skill-building.


Responsibilities and Duties



  • Supervise and manage the day-to-day operations of the adult day program

  • Ensure proper staff coverage of individuals attending the program

  • Coordinate activities, outings, and weekly/daily schedule of attendees

  • Develop programs that assist clients in enhancing independence, advocacy skills, employment skills when possible, building relationships and connecting with their community

  • Assist with coordination of party/space rentals at facility

  • Oversee and strengthen Friendship Place’s vocational training project (Friendly Grounds Café)

  • Promote mission, vision, and values of Central Florida Dreamplex, including excellent customer service (VIP Treatment) and a safe, respectful, and positive environment by all levels of the staff

  • Maintain and enforce compliance with all funding and/or licensing entities, if applicable

  • Review and evaluate prospective individuals, schedule meetings and provide tours to prospective individuals, facilitate and assist caregiver with completion of necessary documentation and transition into program

  • Develop intake documentation and processes for new clients, as well as discharge documentation and processes for those discontinuing the program

  • Develops, implements, and maintains appropriate policies and procedures in regards to safety and operations

  • Complete all billing and progress notes for payors to ensure payment on timely basis

  • In collaboration with CEO, develop community partnerships and relationships in the community that promote community connection and integration for individuals with developmental disabilities

  • Interviews, hires, and trains a productive team on job tasks and conducts performance reviews for this department

  • Coordinate with Dreamplex therapy and recreational staff to integrate with program

  • Oversee completion of fire safety training to participants and staff on an annual basis and coordinate, conduct, and document quarterly fire drills

  • Complete and file incident reports as necessary

  • Continuously analyze program risks and develop corrective action plans to avoid potential incidents

  • Ensures client and caregiver satisfaction, including troubleshooting when there is a complaint and developing process improvements to prevent recurrences

  • Coordinates necessary staff meetings for adult day program employee team

  • Communicate information to program team from top management

  • Handle related emergency issues outside of business hours

  • Follow all organizational policies, health and safety guidelines, and confidentiality standards



Education and Experience



  • Bachelors degree in Therapy field, Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or related field is preferred, but not required.  Related experience can be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the preferred college education

  • Minimum of 3-5 years caring for individuals with disabilities/special needs

  • Two years experience in a supervisory or management position preferred

Working Environment:



  • Requires physical activity, including standing for extended periods, walking, and assisting with mobility

  • Requires some lifting over 50 lbs.
