Discipleship Pastor

Work Summary

The Discipleship Pastor will champion the spiritual development pathway of Life Fellowship, working with Next Gen Ministry leaders and Life Group leaders to develop discipleship plans for all stages of life. They will be responsible for the overall administration, coordination and daily affairs of Life groups and Life Group Pastoral Care 

Job Activities

• Manage day to day functions of Life Groups and Life Group Pastoral Care at each campus, including maintaining groups page in planning center, coordinating facility needs, managing budgets, and keeping inventory of small group material updated


• Develop and implement plans for recruiting, retaining and developing leaders


• Develop and oversee training process for small group leaders


• Develop relationships with other departments through collaboration, communication and focusing on the common goal of discipleship


• Research, develop, and implement strategies for growing healthy and effective Life Groups


• Develop a plan for assimilating people into the process of spiritual formation through small groups and other adult venues


• Create clear content, actionable steps and growth markers to assess development of spiritual maturity with the Leadership Development Plan as the framework


• Provide pastoral leadership to Life Group Leaders


• Other activities as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

• A proven leader with a strong work ethic and strong, life-giving relational skills


• Excellent written and verbal communication, including presentation skills


• Highly self-motivated with the ability to galvanize leaders to action


• Strong strategic thinking and problem solving skills


• Able to see the big picture with an understanding of the systems necessary to grow a small group and discipleship environment


• Exceptional time management, organizational and prioritization skills with a particular emphasis on follow-through and attention to detail


• Ability to think and act independently with professionalism, discretion and confidentiality.


• Ability to work in a high profile and high stress environment


• Personal initiative and resourcefulness, ability to act and resolve needs independently when necessary


• Strong leadership instincts


• Able to create and manage change

Expectation: 40-50 hours a week, including Sundays; able to work some nights, particularly during Life Group semesters
