Description

Job Summary:

Dependable, and organized Transportation Dispatcher who can efficiently coordinate the transportation of goods to and from various locations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Schedule and dispatch drivers to and from various locations
• Prepare daily work such as schedules, and to do lists
• Assign jobs accordingly to drivers’ qualifications and license’
• Obtain knowledge of over the road rules and regulations
• Oversee daily functionalities in dispatch for all sectors
• Data inputting to company systems
• Schedule container loads (Partial, Full, High-Volume accounts)
• Work with Warehouse Manager on Driver Helper schedules
• Input scheduling notes to appropriate system/s
• Track and monitor driver’s duration to complete each job
• Track and monitors driver’s hours to avoid DOT violations for on-duty hours
• Check and balance container yard – overflow and yard control monitoring
• Monitor container inventory to avoid penalty fees
• Communicate with driver’s throughout their shifts
• Report freight discrepancies to appropriate Office personnel
• Report all accidents, and / or incidents to HR and Compliance – forward all reports and pictures
• Assist with Warehousing and transportation Managers as needed
• Ability to provide feedback to for driver’s performance
• Dispatchers to cover for each other as needed
• Adhere to all company policies
• Other tasks as assigned

Requirements

•  Proficient with computers for scheduling and other dispatching duties
• Proficient with GPS, smart phone, and other routing devices
• Punctual, dependable, and resourceful
• High level of composure and good stress management
• Ability to multitask with different, and sometimes conflicting events
• Ability to relay information accurately in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent clerical and organizational skills to keep track of schedules, routes, and personnel

Physical demands:

• Able to sit for long periods of time
• Constant usage of office equipment such as computers, telephone, copier/printer/scanner
• Paperwork handling
• Occasional yard or dock walk-throughs to locate containers / freight

Work environment:

• Clerical indoor office setting
• Assigned work cubical
• Indoors for staff meetings
• In and outdoors when associating with staff members and / or customers
