Job Description - Dispatcher

Hanover Township is hiring a Dispatcher!


 


Position Summary:


Under the direction of the Transportation Manager, the Dispatcher is responsible for scheduling and routing all transportation requests as well as ensuring proper bus driver coverage. The Dispatcher utilizes Ecolane software system to register clients, schedule rides, and address denials. The Dispatcher provides services to clients in a professional manner utilizing problem solving skills. This position may be required to serve as an alternate bus driver due to route needs. The Dispatcher registers new clients and schedules trips with the Township Riders Initiative Program (TRIP) when the Manager is unavailable.


 


This non-exempt, full-time position has a pay rate of $26.00 with the hours of 7:15AM – 3:15PM Monday – Friday.


 


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Must have excellent customer service, listening and communication skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret complex maps and GPS applications.

  • Patience in working with older adults and individuals with disabilities who may have limitations of hearing, eyesight, mobility or cognition.

  • Effectively prioritize and plan work activities. Utilize time efficiently. Develop realistic expectations and action plans for working projects.

  • Ability to clearly convey instructions to employees or team. Capable of speaking clearly and effectively before groups of clients and answering questions appropriately.

  • Ability to read and interpret all types of documents including safety rules and regulations, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to create and edit reports and correspondence from varied source material using appropriate style and format.

  • Ability to maintain effective professional relationships with elected officials, staff, residents and vendors.

  • Enjoy the company of mature adults and understand the generational gaps and differences.


 


Education, Experience, and Computer Skills:



  • High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) equivalent required.

  • Associate’s degree in related field preferred.

  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement highly preferred or willingness to independently obtain within six months of hire.

  • Current Department of Transportation card signed by a certified physician.

  • Two years of experience in transportation support required.

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Willingness to learn the Ecolane Dispatching Software system

  • Must be proficient with all Microsoft Office applications including, but not limited to, Outlook, Word, and Excel.


 


Special Requirements:



  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and/or weekends as requested.
