Position Overview
B's Ace Hardware is seeking a highly motivated and results-driven District Manager to provide leadership and strategic direction for four retail locations in the Boise, ID area. This senior leadership role is responsible for the overall performance, profitability, and operational excellence of all stores within the district. The District Manager will develop and mentor Store Managers, drive sales and profit growth across all locations, ensure brand consistency and exceptional customer experiences, and execute strategic initiatives that position B's Ace Hardware as the premier hardware retailer in the market. This role requires regular travel between store locations (approximately 60-70% of time) and the ability to think strategically while remaining connected to store-level execution.

Strategic Leadership & Business Performance
- Drive district-level financial performance including sales growth, profit margins, expense control, and inventory management across all four locations
- Develop and execute annual business plans and budgets for the district in alignment with company objectives
- Analyze comparative performance metrics across locations to identify opportunities and allocate resources strategically
- Conduct market analysis and competitive intelligence to position stores effectively within the Boise market
- Make capital allocation decisions for store improvements, equipment, and facility enhancements
- Implement promotional and merchandising strategies with consistency and local market relevance
Multi-Site Operations Management
- Conduct regular store visits to assess operational standards, identify issues, and ensure brand consistency
- Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements across all locations
- Optimize inventory management and product mix across stores based on local demand patterns
- Ensure stores maintain proper staffing levels, scheduling efficiency, and labor cost controls
- Coordinate cross-store initiatives and resource sharing to maximize district efficiency
- Identify and resolve operational challenges that impact customer experience or business results
Leadership & Talent Development
- Recruit, hire, develop, and retain four high-performing Store Managers
- Provide coaching, feedback, and performance management to Store Managers with clear accountability
- Build succession plans and leadership pipelines within the district
- Foster a culture of accountability, empowerment, and autonomous decision-making at the store level
- Participate in hiring decisions for key store-level positions
- Conduct performance evaluations and compensation reviews for Store Managers
- Model company values and create an inclusive, engaging work environment across all locations
Customer Experience & Brand Standards
- Ensure exceptional customer service and consistent brand experience across all district locations
- Review customer feedback data and implement improvements to address concerns
- Hold teams accountable for achieving customer satisfaction targets
- Monitor competitive customer service practices and ensure B's Ace Hardware maintains market leadership

- Communicate business goals, priorities, and initiatives clearly to Store Managers and their teams

Qualifications
Required
- 7+ years of retail management experience with progressive responsibility
- 3+ years of multi-unit/district management experience with direct responsibility for 3+ locations
- Proven track record of achieving sales, profit, and operational goals across multiple sites
- Demonstrated success in developing and coaching store-level leaders
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience with POS systems, inventory management software, and business intelligence/reporting tools
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel between store locations
- Availability to work flexible hours including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, Marketing, or related field
- Experience in the hardware, home improvement, or building materials industry
- Familiarity with the Boise market and local competitive landscape
- Experience with Ace Hardware systems and operating model
Physical Requirements
- Regular travel between store locations within the Boise area (60-70% of time)
- Ability to drive for extended periods
- Ability to walk store locations for extended periods during site visits
- Occasional lifting and moving of merchandise or supplies up to 30 pounds
- Ability to move up and down stairs and through stock rooms/back-of-house areas
- Ability to work on a computer and read information, often in small print
- Visual and auditory capabilities to observe store operations and interact with teams
Compensation & Benefits
This is a full-time, exempt position. Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes performance-based incentives tied to district results.
