District Manager Job Description


Position Summary


The District Manager oversees the financial performance, daily operations, customer experience, and employee development of multiple Precision Tune Auto Care locations. This position holds Store Managers accountable for sales, profitability, car count, ticket average, productivity, staffing, customer satisfaction, and compliance with company policies.


Essential Responsibilities


Oversee the daily operations and performance of all assigned stores.


Monitor sales, gross operating profit, gross profit percentage, car count, ticket average, effective labor rate, productivity, payroll, and controllable expenses.


Review daily, weekly, monthly, and rolling four-week performance reports.


Develop store-specific action plans when locations are not meeting expectations.


Hold Store Managers accountable for completing inspections, presenting recommended services, following up on declined work, and maintaining proper staffing.


Increase car count through improved phone performance, customer retention, fleet development, community outreach, and local marketing.


Ensure repair orders contain accurate inspections, estimates, recommendations, customer authorizations, and quality-control documentation.


Recruit, hire, onboard, train, coach, and retain Store Managers, service advisors, technicians, and support employees.


Conduct regular store visits, audits, manager meetings, training sessions, and performance reviews.


Maintain store cleanliness, organization, safety, equipment, signage, and brand standards.


Address customer complaints, warranty concerns, and service-recovery matters promptly and professionally.


Approve staffing plans and schedules while controlling overtime and maintaining proper store coverage.


Protect company assets through proper cash handling, inventory control, deposit procedures, discount approval, and expense management.


Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable employment, safety, environmental, and automotive-repair regulations.


Document employee performance issues, corrective actions, customer claims, accidents, and other significant concerns.


Immediately report serious employee, legal, safety, financial, or customer concerns to company leadership.


Perform other duties reasonably related to the position and the needs of the business.


Performance Expectations


The District Manager is expected to:


Meet or exceed district sales and profitability goals.


Increase car count and customer retention.


Improve ticket average, labor sales, productivity, and inspection quality.


Maintain appropriate staffing at every location.


Develop Store Managers who can independently lead their teams and stores.


Identify performance problems early and respond with clear, measurable action plans.


Maintain consistent operational standards throughout the district.


Ensure managers understand their numbers and are held accountable for results.


Qualifications


Three or more years of multi-location automotive, retail, service, or comparable management experience preferred.


Strong understanding of automotive service operations, sales, labor, parts margins, payroll, and controllable expenses.


Proven ability to coach managers, improve underperforming locations, resolve conflict, and hold employees accountable.


Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.


Ability to read and understand financial and operational reports.


Proficiency with point-of-sale systems, email, Microsoft Office, reporting platforms, and virtual communication tools.


Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, reliable transportation, and ability to travel regularly between assigned stores.


High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree or relevant professional training preferred.

Work Environment


This position works in automotive repair facilities and office environments. The District Manager must be able to move throughout customer and shop areas, operate a computer, communicate by telephone and in person, and travel regularly between locations. Availability outside normal working hours may occasionally be required for urgent operational needs.
